Christopher Nolan on AI:
“I’ve never seen a more rapid wholesale dismissal of a supposedly foundational jump in technology in my lifetime. So much energy has been expended on bringing in AI, but if you look at that generation’s reaction, they’re utterly rejecting it. [My children’s] judgment of AI slop has been immediate and harsh. They see it for what it is very quickly – and it’s much easier for them to identify it, because it grew out of an online world they know really well. And while that doesn’t mean that every aspect of the technology is useless or meaningless, in film-making it’s hitting at exactly the wrong time. After years of driving towards heavily virtual environments, we’re seeing a renewed interest in more tactile, more real forms of storytelling.”

something that'd be a lot better on instagram is if I could follow people's series. If I follow the account I have to see all the other bs they do/post. I just want to stay updated on whatever series they are doing.
This is so heartbreaking. Joshua was one of the OGs in the Austin startup scene. Basically put it on the map with Capital Factory. We owe so much to him.
Rest in peace, Josh. We’ll keep the dreams of builders alive in Austin. 🙏
During the press junket for Jurassic World: Evolution, a journalist took their entire interview time with Jeff Goldblum to have him read as Principal Skinner from THE SIMPSONS "Steamed Hams" episode, and it's amazing 😂👏

Netflix film chief Dan Lin tells @nytimes that if any director asks Netflix to give their film a theatrical release, they will be shown the door.
“There is a group of filmmakers who still want theatrical. Those are filmmakers that we’ve accepted we just won’t work with.”

food and drinks consumed in a movie theater doesn’t really go into your body. it goes into your movie theater body which is separate & holy and harm-proof
Some box-office analysts are saying that the success of BACKROOMS proves that studio executives should stop relying on established brands. And while I wouldn’t argue with the sentiment, BACKROOMS *is* an established brand! Just not one that over-50s are familiar with
Marty Supreme only making 17.5 on long weekend is still insane to me. Maybe Christmas windows aren’t all they’re cracked up to be
@Lucas_Shaw@MattBelloni any thoughts?
