@Since71Blog@abfrti1 They’re also pointing out that they’ve been loaned, or been able to dual-register, players from these larger clubs.
Their statement referring to these “bigger clubs” is hardly an issue.
@Since71Blog@abfrti1 If that quote was from a journalist in an opinion piece, sure. But it’s from the club. Maidenhead themselves are admitting that they’ve been in consultation with clubs far larger than themselves (budget, star power, club size, etc).
It needs to be said that the club is ran so well for a standalone club. It has no debt, we are self sufficient. It is simply the way the game has grown so quickly (too quickly?) that the investment we do have simply isn’t enough anymore due to the demands of the game @TomJGarry
Durham, who have played in WSL2 since 2014, say they were in talks "with potential investors for several months but these have fallen away", and so they are today issuing an urgent plea for investment.
It's a stark reminder of the financial fragility in the sport. #BarclaysWSL2
This would be a catastrophic loss, not just to women’s football in the north-east, but women’s football as a whole.
I spent several wonderful months with this club, and I really, sincerely hope investor(s) are found.
Durham Women Football Club can today confirm that the club is seeking offers for investment into or the complete purchase of the football club.

I want to know…
1. Who do you support?
2. Who does your Dad support?
3. Who does your Grandad support?
4. What is the nearest football ground to your house?
Perfectly normal. Club creators work *around* broadcast. In fact, everyone does.
It feels rough when broadcast “get in your way” (photographers are used to the steadicam being amongst celebrations), but really they’re just doing their job, which takes priority.
“Who the hell do you think you are Sky Football?”
The way he pushed the club’s content creator out of the way when he was lining up his own shot… 😲
Not a great look!
After seeing a tweet in October about a little girl who was mocked for supporting Charlton, we were moved to invite her to be our mascot for the day. She also had the chance to meet her idols, Sophie and Anna.
We hope this experience will make for a memorable show & tell in the new year, and that you will always be proud to be a Charlton fan!
A BIT OF A MOAN AND A PLEA.... This shouldn't need to be said but unfortunately it keeps happening again and again. I know these words will probably have no effect but it is better than just sitting by doing nothing.
More and more frequently, the work of others in the game is getting used without credit and/or payment across social media. It is endlessly frustrating. It is happening to writers, photographers and content creators - no one is safe. The least one can do is credit the source and provide a link to the piece if there is one.
Firstly, it is taking advantage of other people's hard work and time. These things don't just happen - they come about from a combination of research, conversations, travel, production, transcription, editing. The list is endless. A lot of thought, time and energy goes into producing content of whatever kind.
Secondly, the battle to make covering this sport a viable income is ever present, not just for independents like us who have to constantly pitch for work but in the bigger organisations too. Not reading an article or watching a piece of work at it's original source means those creators don't get numbers which means editors/brands/whoever lose interest. The knock on effect will be that things just don't get produced and jobs get lost. Budgets are tight and, at the end of the day, things will stop getting comissioned if the orginal authors and their platforms aren't getting the engagement.
This is not just what happened to us this week and on countless other occasions. It is happening all the time to colleagues across the game who are genuinely fighting every day to ensure the women's game gets the coverage it deserves. The media pool is underrepresented and stretched as it is.
This comparison may seem extreme but it is valid... you wouldn't take someone's wallet or steal from a shop so why is it ok to take their work and repurpose it as your own?! The principle is exactly the same and I don't know how but the current trend has to stop.
