@UgaZaku I found some landrace varieties like DJ123 have roots that grow over one meter horizontally from the plant in the fields at JIRCAS (unpublished so far) while some like IR64 only reach around 30cm horizontally- something to consider when sampling the monolith from diversity panels
@mumumouse2 👍👍 Even bad science that is never applied in a harmful way ends up wasting enormous amounts of time (and money) of other researchers who attempt to do follow on work that leads nowhere rather than focusing their efforts on an area that would actually advance their field.

@mumumouse2 I'm more impressed by the consistency in grain yield between plots on their fields - especially when extrapolating from so few plants and plots. Figure 2 and 3 also have some interesting error bars.
