A recent local job straightening out 115 square metres of blue lias flagstones in this handsome barn.
The apparatus in the centre of the image is a Stone Magnet, making easy work of lifting the larger stones.

The key to removing bitumen successfully is to concentrate on one small area at a time.
Once you have removed to top, sticky layer, let the black residue underneath cure - the colder the room the better.

We use some of the stone dust from each floor when pointing the joints to achieve a perfectly colour toned match.
Piping it in is a piece of cake!

This flagstone floor can start to breathe again
Contaminates like bitumen clog the pours of the stone, drawing moisture up to the surface. If that moisture can't "breathe" it will spread sideways, delamination the surface as it goes, then up into the walls

Bitumen is one of the hardest contaminates to remove.
As you can see from this image, having the right equipment and experience make a huge difference.
This floor can now breathe again...
