SMM thinks that destocking has been completed & that downstream companies are now willing to accept higher prices. This would explain the recent upward trend in #lithium carbonate spot. The recovery of supply will take some time. Until then, we can expect slight higher prices.

Mining giant Rio Tinto Ltd. “would love” to produce lithium in Canada, given the right project, says chief executive Jakob Stausholm.

Rio doesn’t currently produce lithium, but Stausholm, speaking at one of the world’s largest mining conventions in Toronto on March 3, said the miner is keen on building a lithium business and is on the hunt for a top-tier property. He said he believes lithium is more likely to dominate the battery market in the future than other metals such as nickel and cobalt.

With the PDAC starting shortly we are hosting an online raffle to win this specimen of Zigzag spodumene enriched pegmatite.

This small piece is a ‘spare’ grab sample from the project that was taken last autumn. Other grabs from the same area exhibited lithium levels above 2% and contained other critical minerals.

The Zulu site had some Zim Gov visitors yesterday. Things are definitely hotting up.

Remember the 2024 budget says the gov intend on taking direct equity stakes in their lithium miners. No wonder there is a familiarisation site tour going on.
