RHODEN’s STATE OF THE STATE: An Epic Disaster

Interim Governor Larry Rhoden gave his disastrous State of the State address to the South Dakota Legislature earlier today.

Larry made abundantly clear that he has no interest or intention of bringing an end to the crushing property taxes that are destroying our South Dakota economy.

Larry refused to address his administration’s outrageous budget, which is DOUBLE that of just a few short years ago.

He even described South Dakota’s finances as “very healthy,” despite offering nothing in his proposed budget for our amazing teachers or a much needed cost of living increase for our boots on the ground state employees.

Larry’s budget has plenty of new money for lobbyists, bureaucrats, and his political donors and their pet projects, but nothing for the regular, hardworking people who call South Dakota home. VERY, VERY sad.

After decades in state government, raising your taxes, (More than 400 times and counting), Larry’s lackluster career is very soon coming to an end.

His days of spending your money and giving you virtually nothing in return will soon be over.

South Dakota will be electing a new Governor this year, and boy are the people of this state ready.

South Dakotans have waited long enough.

They are in desperate need of bold leadership, not more of the same.

That is why I am running to serve as your next Governor. Under my administration, no communities will go ignored, and no money will leave my office that doesn’t benefit the honest, hardworking people of our state.

Change is coming. Help is on the way.

This is the American Dream, and it’s being taken away.

The average first-time homebuyer is now 40. This is a crisis. When people can’t buy a home, everything else collapses: family, stability, legacy, the next generation.

A nation that locks its own citizens out of homeownership is a nation in decline.

We’re fighting to reverse that.

This is the battle.

Americans should own the homes.
Americans should work the jobs.
Americans should live the dream.
