Saturn and Mars are worth stepping outside for before dawn tonight.

Saturn climbs high in the south and is easy to spot with just your eyes, while Mars stays closer to the horizon over in the east. Best clear-sky odds run through the Desert Southwest into the southern Plains, think Phoenix, El Paso and Oklahoma City. There's also a solid shot at some aurora glow reaching toward the northern Great Lakes and Maine to the naked eye, with a camera picking it up a bit farther south.
