Both groups have around 100k people in the state. Both groups came from highly impoverished countries. Both were fleeing brutal wars.

But that’s where the similarities end. By every metric, the Hmong community is thriving and (largely) generating a net-positive contribution to Minnesota’s society, while the Somali community is struggling and creating a massive net drain on resources.
