I have published in my blog all the Southend Councillors who are up for election in Southend in May who want to destroy the green belt by Bournes Green Chase with 10,000 unaffordable houses, not prioritised for local people.

So proud to announce that Karl Lansley will be standing in St Laurence Ward in the Southend local elections in May.
His record in the community speaks volumes and he would be a brilliant councillor.

@MartinTerryIND@reformparty_uk Whether you are right or not, as an independent councillor, I cannot understand why you would do Labour’s bidding?
Nothing of what you have said is anything to do with local politics and the policies of your Labour-led coalition.
Time to be honest with Thorpe residents.
The next Southend local elections will be the ‘Green Belt Election’
Read my latest blog about how Southend Labour and @CllrCowan are about to destroy Southend irreparably by vandalising our green belt land with their 10,000 houses development.

@CllrDent You may or may not be right, but I dare say Southend Labour have a rather chequered history with many different leaders in recent years and numerous councillors and members leaving.
Incidentally, would you know 100% whether the Southend elections on going ahead?
@CllrCowan@CllrDent is it true the bikes from Ace cafe, are getting free parking along thefront today? If so, is that not thousands lost in revenue? As well as the money given to Ace cafe to run the event? I thought we needed the extra parking until 9pm to plug the funding gap?
@CllrDent@VIRTUAL_TRIS@Southend_Ed@mhclg Very few read that Chat gpt Labour manifesto, so I entirely disagree.
In real life barely anyone had a clue it was coming.
Also, the manifesto was extremely vague in how it would be introduced.
This ‘mandate’ business may be technically true, but is a flimsy cover.
@tonycoxreform Very glad to hear it - Confelicity most certainly supports you in this.
Southend is a concrete town already, the last thing we need are more green spaces dug up and lost forever.
Some Southend councillors won their seat by one vote.
If Southend councillors do not stand up for our democracy and our right to vote then they could be in indefinitely and that can’t be right.

@MartinTerryIND You said on a Facebook response that it wasn’t a city-wide parking policy and that it would only be for schools.
The council website contradicts what you said.
What is the truth?
Also, no need for personal insults - you demean the position of a councillor when you do this.
The campaign to save Southend elections in 2026 has begun.
If you believe in democracy and your right to vote, sign the below to urge Southend councillors not to cancel the elections.
With no guarantee from the leader it is vital to raise our voices.
