Manchester United are sanctioning and banning loyal, generational Reds without, clear and compelling evidence.

These owners want rid of lifelong matchgoers. Their strategy is clear to see. It’s a cull!

We challenged them. We demanded the unproven suspensions stop.

They haven’t listened.

🗣️THE WARNINGS AND THE TRUTH

Four years ago we warned where this was heading.

We warned about the marginalisation and eradication of generational match-going Reds. Nobody listened.

We warned about the Americanisation of our game. Nobody cared.

We warned that if Ratcliffe didn’t change direction, he’d become another Glazer in all but name.

Polls said give him more time.

So we did.

We even postponed a protest at Arsenal because fans wanted to give him more time. Again we got abuse.

That decision demotivated lads in The 1958 who have sacrificed years of their lives, time, money and energy fighting for this fanbase and never asked for a thing in return. Some lads had personal abuse. Not after sympathy, those are the facts.

We never asked for nothing in return. We always preferred to be pissing from the outside in. Stood shoulder to shoulder with you.

We have banged on about unity since day one.

And for the last 12 months we have spent an unbelievable amount of time trying to make it happen.

Meanwhile some fans wanted to be edgy.

Some said it wasn’t their fight.

Some thought it would never affect them.

Well look around now.

Ticket prices.

Season Ticket sanctions.

Long standing Reds treated like suspects.

Time served Reds receiving banning orders.

Concessions disappearing.

More hospitality.

More premiumisation.

A future built around revenue, not supporters.

The chickens have come home to roost.

We take no pleasure in saying it, but we have got far more right than wrong.

And we wish we hadn’t.

This was never about being proved right.

It was about stopping it before it happened.

Delighted to share our new paper published today in partnership with the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) coach development team

Finding a path – understanding the employment, demands and preparation for high-performance rugby union coaching

We set out to understand the transition into high-performance (HP) coaching in rugby. To do this, we spoke with:

🔹 Recruiters responsible for employing HP coaches in Irish rugby

🔹 Knowledge audits with current HP coaches to understand the demands of entering the role

Then, based on this data:

🔹 Designed simulation interviews for a highly experienced group of professional coaches aspiring to be employed at high performance level to compare differences with those in position

Our findings suggest that transitioning into HP coaching is more than often represented and adds to a weight of evidence showing that we actually know very little about the specific demands of coaching at different levels. In this case, despite us finding a highly experienced group of professional coaches who aspired to coach HP athletes, the role they were experienced in was very different to the role they were pursuing.

We suggest that aspiring coaches need to be supported to build credibility and navigate organisational and interpersonal pressures through guided cognitive apprenticeships that use modelling, scaffolding and deliberate social capital development.

We have been preparing for this for a few weeks in anticipation.

We are angry, the fans are angry and it’s been building for some time.

We have all been more than patient.

We all know the root cause, we have always known the elephant in the room.

Yet, this isn’t being addressed.

It’s those who can least afford it, have the most emotional connection with our club who are being asked to pay the price in more ways than one.

Trampling over generational support and memories of friends and family who handed the club over to us like something they have stepped in.

- The treatment of fans from the club
- The eradication of fan culture
- The assault on concessions and generational fans
- Putting profit before fan safety
- Putting profit before everything
- The total lack of communication and transparency
- The uncertainty of our clubs future

The club preach fan engagement the reality is they dont practice it. We know this first hand and have evidence.

ACTIONS NOT WORDS ITS NOT GOOD ENOUGH

They can hold meetings with the FAB which is all under NDA. It is supposed to be for the fans YET they can’t tell the fans anything. It’s a disgrace!

These meetings are effectively gagged and it is NOT open and transparent dialogue with fans. Not even close.

The silence from the club is deafening.

We rise again to defend our club and be warned this will not just be on the street campaigns at the ground.

Keep treating the fans with contempt at your peril

Love Scoop — but facts are that the support United has received from its owners, Ineos included, the last decades is less than not only all clubs in the PL but also less than probably all clubs in the Championship. Stoke’s owner just wrote off a 135m loan to the club the other week, the average loss per year is £20m in the Championship, and those losses are year after year picked up by the owners.

In the below graph (from 18 Nov 2024), the — the red — bar shows how the investments made in MUFC by its owners rank in relation to the investments made by current owners of other PL clubs.

For all owners in the PL, the Championship, L1 and L2, except fan owned AFC Wimbledon (and perhaps 1-2 others) — owners on a fairly regular basis step in and cover losses and fund investments. Owning a football club is a very expensive hobby — not due to the cost of buying a club, you will get that back and then some when selling it — but due to the size of the losses of more or less all clubs regardless of level, on a regular basis. It’s only the Glazers in the entire football world who have made money off owning a club (excluding any profit made when selling it).

It is in no way, shape or form unreasonable to request that Ineos should step in and relief MUFC of its debt and fund spending on the pitch. The funds contributed so far by Ineos totals an absurdly low amount given the clubs needs on and off the pitch, it can’t even be up for debate. The Coates family has put in what, twice the amount of money in Stoke FC the kast 7-8 years as Ineos has contributed to United.

I just want to make this clear because United fans are so used to the Glazers using the club as an ATM machine that most perhaps aren’t really aware what should be expected from a “normal” owner. As seen below, Ineos has so far supported United much less than the owners of all other PL clubs have.

United so poor in this game. ETH seeing more of the players in these situations is a positive. Allows him to sort out who he wants on the bus. The real disgrace are the Glazers. Are they waiting for the last game at OT to pass??? It would be typical of them. Weak and shirking accountability and responsibility to the end! Members of staff on and off the pitch are in an uncertain position waiting for new owners! Let alone recruitment and what budget their is going to be! This should have been done! Classless to the end!
