@TheLongInvest $OSCR never would have hit my radar, but I was following you. I didn’t want to chase above $20 and waited. Finally got in last July at $14.
@unusual_whales If a degree delivers no economic value, charging six figures for it is malpractice. When 25% of the unemployed hold college diplomas, it’s clear some universities are selling low-ROI credentials at premium prices. They’re not just overpriced. They’re culpable.
We are living through the most important moment in human history and most people do not realize it yet.
People keep comparing AI to earlier technological breakthroughs like the cotton gin, the steam engine, automobiles, airplanes, or even the internet. I used to think the same way. I used to believe this was simply another cycle of progress and that the economic shifts would follow the same predictable pattern of creative destruction.
That framing is too small. We are not just in another industrial revolution. We are in a singularity style event. We are creating something that does not only improve productivity. It improves itself. It learns at scale. It compounds at a speed that bends the usual economic timeline.
Basic economics teaches that productivity growth is the engine of wealth creation. Every major leap in human prosperity is tied to a surge in productivity. That is why the steam engine transformed the world. That is why electricity changed everything. That is why computers reshaped the global economy. Higher productivity means more output from the same amount of labor and capital, and over time that pushes living standards higher.
AI is different because it does not just increase productivity. It increases the rate at which productivity itself accelerates. In economic terms you can think of it as a second order effect. The curve stops being close to linear and starts bending upward. For the first time in human history we are building a system that can help rewrite the way progress happens.
If that sounds dramatic it is because it actually is.
Imagine being an Indigenous person several hundred years ago and someone tells you that one day humans will step foot on the moon. Imagine them telling you that people will talk across oceans as if they are standing next to each other. Imagine them telling you that enormous metal machines heavier than anything you have ever seen will fly through the sky. Imagine them telling you that all human knowledge will eventually fit inside an object smaller than your hand.
None of that would sound like routine innovation. It would sound like something beyond comprehension. It would feel closer to magic than technology.
That is the kind of moment we are living through right now with AI. The future is arriving faster than the human mind is designed to process.
People talk about robots doing construction work, code assistants replacing junior developers, or software performing skilled trade tasks. Those changes are real and they are coming quickly, but they are only the surface. The deeper shift is that we are building intelligence that scales. Human intelligence grows one brain at a time. AI can grow across millions of machines at once. It can update every instance in a single instant. It can spread new capabilities across the entire system overnight.
This is something new in the universe.
This is the first time intelligence can compound without being tied to a single body or a single brain.
And yet, when you zoom out, this moment still fits inside a very old pattern. Human history is the story of a species that keeps breaking the boundaries placed in front of it. We refused to accept the limits of walking so we built wheels and roads. We refused to accept the limits of geography so we built ships and railways and airplanes. We refused to accept the limits of knowledge so we built the printing press and then the internet.
Every time we push the frontier, the emotional pattern repeats. First fear and resistance. Then disruption and turmoil. Then, after a lag, progress.
The economic disruptions from AI will be real. Some jobs will disappear. New forms of work will appear. Entire industries will reorganize around new cost structures and new ways to create value. The short term will be uneven and uncomfortable because large productivity shocks always are. But historically, when you look across decades, big gains in productivity have usually led to higher incomes, longer lives, and better quality of life for most people.
There are real risks and nothing about the future is guaranteed. That is also part of being honest. But the long record of human progress suggests that we are more adaptable and more resilient than we give ourselves credit for.
If you step back far enough you see something beautiful. Humans build tools that make life easier. Then we build tools that make life longer. Then we build tools that help us understand the universe. Now we are building tools that help us understand and extend our own intelligence. Over thousands of years the arc is remarkably consistent. We take chaos and uncertainty and we slowly transform them into knowledge and capability.
AI is the most powerful extension of that instinct. It is the most human invention we have ever created because it reflects our deepest desire to improve, to explore, and to grow. It is the next step in the story of a species that has always dared to imagine more than its current reality.
It is completely normal to feel uncertain right now. It is normal to feel overwhelmed. But we should also feel proud. This moment proves that human creativity is still the strongest force on the planet. We are capable of shaping the future in ways that would have looked impossible to anyone who came before us.
Everything is going to be okay. The world will change, but it will not collapse. Humanity will adapt the way it always has. We will learn new skills. We will build new industries. We will discover new forms of value and new ways to take care of each other. And we will create a future that is even better than the world we are leaving behind.
If history is any guide this is not the beginning of decline. It is the beginning of the most extraordinary chapter our species has ever written.
