Honored to have 3 of my photographs included in the new edition of “New York: An Illustrated History” by @JamesSandersNYC@RicBurnsFilms@AAKnopf. The book is the only comprehensive illustrated history of New York City, and is now out in stores!
@rachsyme The other was his refutation of the show business myth about the last minute song being the sign of genius. It was not, he said. It was that a song written *after* previews can be written with a specific character and performance in mind. Which makes all the difference.
@rachsyme Beautiful. I recall two of his other observations from that good PBS doc, about this song. One was that the the foxtrot song felt "like an appetizer." And he thought that Yvonne and the audience, at that point in the show, deserved a full meal.
