Yesterday we wished everyone well and a prosperous new year in 2026, however, the FFX county BoS have different plans for you with a new 4% meals tax. More of the same, tax and spend with zero oversight or accountability of where the money is going. Voters rejected this idea twice, but the Board decided FFX needs more of your money. This hurts everyone, the consumer and small & family owned restaurants.

🚨New: Starting today, dining out will be more expensive in Fairfax County, Virginia. You’ll be paying a new 4% food tax on all prepared food and beverages sold as a meal. That means with the state’s 6% sales tax, you’ll be paying 10% in taxes on your bill for prepared meals at restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, etc.

Despite claiming to want to lower costs for residents, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors voted to implement the new food tax even after voters rejected it twice at the ballot box.

🚨New: The Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office knew Marvin Fernando Morales-Ortez was an MS-13 gang member, but dropped a murder charge against him anyway, according to court records I obtained.

This is a serious problem here in Fairfax County. This could have been prevented, but the inability to properly hold individuals accountable for breaking the law (repeatedly) is a failure of our government institutions. Number one obligation is public safety. We deserve better. #demandbetter #accountability
