@MorriseyWV If you care about economic development in WV, maybe we should allow the only hip and knee manufacturer in the state to sell implants to WVU Medicine.
8 of history's biggest badasses:
1. Peter Freuchen: Standing six feet seven inches, Freuchen was an arctic explorer, journalist, author, and anthropologist.
Peter participated in several arctic journeys (including a 1000-mile dogsled trip across Greenland), starred in an Oscar-winning film, wrote more than a dozen books (novels and nonfiction, including his Famous Book of the Eskimos), had a peg leg (he lost his leg to frostbite in 1926; he amputated his gangrenous toes himself), was involved in the Danish resistance against Germany, was imprisoned and sentenced to death by the Nazis before escaping to Sweden, studied to be a doctor at university, his first wife was Inuit & his second was a Danish margarine heiress, became friends with Jean Harlow and Mae West, once escaped from a blizzard shelter by cutting his way out of it with a knife fashioned from his own feces, and, last but certainly not least, won $64,000 on The $64,000 Question.
@MorriseyWV Great job, now do something about WVU Medicine buying every community hospital in the state and then putting all of the local vendors out of business.
On December 31, 1759, Arthur Guinness signed a remarkable 9,000-year lease for brewing beer in Dublin at an annual rent of £45.
"Beer, well respected and rightly consumed, can be a gift of God. It is one of his mysteries, which it was his delight to conceal and the glory of kings to search out. And men enjoy it to mark their days and celebrate their moments and stand with their brothers in the face of what life brings." - Stephen Mansfield
This song is called "Rich Men North of Richmond." It has been viewed MILLIONS of times.
The artist's name is Oliver Anthony. I just got off the phone with him.
With his permission, I'd like to share the story he told me that moved the deepest parts of my soul...

There used to be a greater purpose about teaching concepts of manhood, fairness, hard work and discipline...All of that tied to participation in sports, all the way up to the professional level. Now, with everything, the end goal is just, “Does it get you closer to the bag?”
On April 25, 1976, during a game between the Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium, two protestors ran onto the field and tried burning an American flag.
Cubs center fielder Rick Monday quickly ran over and grabbed the flag to save it before the protestors could light it on fire. His quick action was met with a standing ovation from the crowd.
When asked later about the incident, Monday said: "If you're going to burn the flag, don't do it around me. I've been to too many veterans' hospitals and seen too many broken bodies of guys who tried to protect it."
Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸
