@GordonHodsonPhD @jean_twenge In my senior-level course, students read two psychology nonfiction books (not textbooks). Every term, most students tell me this is the first time they have read *any* book since HS and even middle school. And they discovered that reading was much more enjoyable than anticipated.
Thank you @PsychScience and @KauffmanFDN for the recognition and support! It was great presenting the poster and meeting fellow award winner Chen Ji at #aps23dc
Congratulations Chen Ji and @JamesWagesIII for receiving the 2023 Psychological Science and Entrepreneurship Poster Award, supported by @KauffmanFDN ๐

.@WBEZ spoke to @sylviapperry about her research with @MaxJordan_N and @JamesWagesIII showing Black medical students report a greater sense of belonging at Black medical schools (HBCUs) than those at predominantly White institutions (PWIs). https://t.co/ruEhshG6cw
@sylviapperry Thatโs so Raven! Haha I seem to experience that particularly when encountering certain smells and tastes. Sometimes when I enter a well air-conditioned cinderblock building from the summer heat, childhood feelings from my first days of a school year flood back.
My paper w/ @sylviapperry & @JamesWagesIII is out in @JournalGIM! In a prospective cohort, we found that Black med students at HBCUs had a greater sense of belonging & confidence in their scholastic abilities than their PWI counterparts. Not surprised. #racializedorganizations
@nadia_chernyak @AndrewRAConway I used โThe Development of Childrenโ by Lightfoot, Cole, and Cole, because I liked that the textbook situates development in a sociocultural context. Also the instructor site is useful.
