Nobody has 'ignored' the referendum result. The last government spent years trying to deliver something that remotely resembled all the various Brexits sold to voters in 2016. They couldn't. Nor can the new one. The rest is noise.
Brexit:
What was promised is undeliverable and what is deliverable is undesirable.
There’s not much more to it.
We all want to move on, but we can’t pretend anymore.
The only way forward is to give the people the chance to kill it off.
Then we move on, or we drown in it.
1. Amid all the argument, the Brexit Select Committee took evidence recently from representatives of the UK’s most important industries and services. We asked them what No Deal would mean to them, listened to what they had to say and concluded the following in our report:
This is right. The no-confidence debate is more sexy, but it ignores that parliament has far quicker ways of forcing an extension of Article 50 if it wishes.
The promise of 20,000 extra police officers is a meaningless gesture as long as the criminal justice system lies in tatters.
Where is the money for the CPS? The courts? Legal aid?
We have a government of infants who believe that “more police” is all it takes to address crime.
Am so so chuffed that @IsItJustUsPod is already being rated 5*. If you haven’t given us a listen, I would love for you to do so and to leave a rating and review! We would love to hear what you think. Don’t forget to share on here and instagram! #podcast
No-deal is an attempt to ensure that we negotiate a deal with the EU from a position of greater weakness. The fact leading Brexiters have reached this argument suggests they've gone completely mad.
After studying science, philosophy, theology and socio economic history for many years, I have concluded that the big problem is that so many people are fucking stupid.
