I will continue to say it: The NBA thinking on tanking is completely wrong. As long as you allocate talent by draft, you will never stop tanking.

The goal should be for fewer teams to tank for the shortest amount of time possible.

The answer to that is obvious: Get rid of the lottery and draft by reverse order. The worst teams get the best players, improve and move out of tank phase.

The NBA’s wonky lottery odds has made the problem worse because you get a handful of unlucky franchises stuck in the 5-10 draft range and struggle to improve.
