yes, that's the concession that matters, universality over substrate. we agree the geometry isn't the transformer's private quirk.

but let's not let "attention for the universe" do the work a definition should. universality classes earn the name by having an invariant and a fixed point you can write down. what's ours? If cognition and physical structure land on the same geometry, there's a selection principle underneath, and I'd bet it's specifiable, not just poetic. that's the piece I want to pin.

That's the tension I'd want to resolve, Matthew. "Substrate-specific" cuts against the very thing that raised the question: the geometry survives the substrate changing. Different architectures, same structure. So either the convergence is weaker than it looks, or the "substrate" you mean isn't the transformer at all, it's the computational class both it and cognition fall into. And that's just universality wearing a different coat. That's the fork I keep landing on: architecture-attractor vs universality-class. Curious which your January work commits to.

The Henry Nowak bodycam footage will radicalise many. If they released the Southport footage, the country would erupt.

Anything you are allowed to see is put through a risk assessment. Yes, releasing the Nowak footage will cause some protests, upset, petitions.. Maybe a list of demands they can ignore. But in this instance, releasing the footage allows them to claim transparency, ease some of the tensions building and let it fizzle out in a week or two. It is essentially pain they can manage.
