@laurakaykelly I’m sure the forthcoming grey box will be as loved by Glaswegians and not at all look like every other bit of redevelopment in the city. GCC carpet bombing the urban realm with long stay parking bays for students promised a thriving centre which GCC are in instrumental in killing
@ryanjjvance @AChristieSNP@glasgowlife@GlasgowCC Spot on. &this is only the tip of the iceberg. So little seems to be understood of the interdependency here. If people go to a gig, they go to the bar next door, they get a taxi home, they get food from the takeaway. With each of these that you remove, the others are weakened too
🚨BREAKING🚨
@CreativeScots warns that “cultural depression” is imminent in Scotland.
“Resilience within the sector, financial and human, is essentially at rock bottom.”
“Nationally and internationally significant” organisations are “in crisis and on cliff edges”.

@joe_yer99 @kerbycat @reglasgow_web Sure, but given the amount of redundant land right in the heart of the city, gap sites and not to mention the spiralling costs of running a bricks and mortar business premises in the centre, surely we need more of a strategy for poorly used or not used at all land than this ?
@joe_yer99 @kerbycat @reglasgow_web Doubtless you are right, though given the need for “growth” &the ability to take legislation through, personally I’d favour a “use it or lose it” approach where buildings vacant for a period of time fall automatically to GCC for resale. Specifically to avoid the BHS situation
@IainDale Oh my - your message shows kindness and grace, and the replies are an absolute cesspit, somewhat representative of this platform, sadly. But so important, are you always do with @CoreyFroggatt - to highlight ALL the work that brings great radio / tv to air. Properly classy. ❤️
@ZoeJardiniere I think it becomes clear why they give Mishal the set piece 0810s - the silence after his last "answer" before her polite "thank you" sign off was incredibly powerful. Be great to hear more on the repeated smearing of great journalists @TheNewsAgents@jonsopel@lewis_goodall
@BBCr4today@Emmabarnett@BBCSounds At the end of such a fractious election &so much negativity, I thought @Emmabarnett captured something so special in this interview. What a wonderful man, &how joyful in years to come his family will have this snapshot of his outlook in this moment. Absolutely inspiring ❤️
@SamCoatesSky I’m honestly fascinated which of the good people of Basildon is watching this and thinking “that’s the one, that’s my next MP”. It’s just utterly humiliating now.
The notable point from the polls is surely not “the tories are on 20%”. The point is surely, “who are the 20% ?” !
@itvnews This is honestly why the turnout becomes so low. People like this have no place in public office, and the extent to which they turn people off from politics in general should be a huge source of shame
@edballs The old saying for writers …. Write about what you know. It shouldn’t be beyond our politics to recognise the value and experience from all sides of the debate. Whoever the next PM is, they would have to be incredibly short sighted not to include Ed in policy making …. ❤️🌈
@Jacqui_Smith1 What these videos &the ITV interview have highlighted is, even more than Ed’s story, what is missing from some other campaigns
The public respond so much more to moments which are not “here is my line”🔁
There is a real sincerity&relaxed communication here we are crying out for
@EdwardJDavey There could &should be cross party consensus from KS & RS to work togehter on the way forward for the sector -far too important to be a Football, &you communicate w/ obvious honesty &vulnerability. I can’t imagine all you’ve been through, but politics is richer for your voice🌈💛
@GovanhillGo It’s giving Petrol Station.
Really fascinated at what goes through architect’s heads the moments after they press submit.
Job well done ? 🤦♂️
@mrdanwalker I think what I was most missing was ANYTHING which got to the character of the person. They both seemed stuck in PMQ mode. The Ed Davey ITV interview the day before told me so much more. The shouting down (in both directions) &the line repetition is just a DREADFUL look all round
@MurphyNiallGLA Says so much about policy failures which lead to the loss of characterful buildings. Surely when a building needs Heras &plants are growing from it, compromising safety, owners should have a short period to rectify or be CPO’d & sold to new users. Would breathe life into the City
This. I think it’s so “Westminster Village” to do this weird “who came out on top ?” Thing. People just want to see their arguments presented, some cross examination of the critique of them, & some flavour of the character and what motivates the above. Tonight failed both of them
I have to say a well constructed thirty minute head to head interview with Starmer and then another with Sunak would yield far more than this constrained but shouty debate
