With the chaos currently happening within the Middle East and US involvement there, it is certainly worth noting how while we may like a politician simply because he or she may have done right by the people once, he or she can still be bribed into bribery. Be careful.
@FreeLouisiana64 That's an interesting development. We did try that same thing with the Texas Bullion Depository, and we're doing ok with it. Hopefully Louisiana's attempt to try a similar tactic as us goes well for them.
@FreeLouisiana64 The US Constitution is made so that it limits Federal power and state power but even then, I do agree that whilst one's state cannot prevent immigration (with whole have unpredictable views, ideas and so on) to move in and make your state essentially a copy of the one they fled.
@UnderhillVicky@GregAbbott_TX@GovAbbottPress Its mainly how our government system works. For something to end on the ballot, our state government literally has to approve its right to be there and can automatically be removed even if one member of the household said "No."
@JayTex888@NotaBurnerr007@PJMahoney2 No offense but love him or not, Governor Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton are simply the best options we have as of now. It could certainly be worse on the political scale, like Senator John Cornyn being elected Texan Attorney General, an unlikely thing to happen.
@JayTex888 Just to add to this, any war for self-governance is also a civil war... for the parent nation. So technically while the Confederacy did have their so-to-speak "Confederate Revolution," it was mainly known as the American Civil War due to the fact they lost.
@JayTex888 When the United States was first created, it qas supposed to be a union, hence "united" in the US. The idea of a "nation" only really came later after the American Civil War, when people decided to push for an identity for a "country" that was a union.
Remember that the TEXIT movement is not about identity politics, as some people like to believe. TEXIT is an idea and mindset that people should have to judge our ability to govern ourselves rather then slogans.
@JayTex888 Being "American" is not the issue one should worry about when thinking about issues such as seccession, not to be a smartass here. I would delve into how united Texans are as Texans, and how stable we are politically. Economically, we're fine. Change my mind.
