Flanders is sucking up to Tesla with plans for supposed smart cars. How incredibly stupid.

Europe's remigration duo Martin Sellner and Eva Vlaardingerbroek are about to descend on the European Parliament. Here's why this needs your attention.
US officials appear increasingly desperate to attract guests to Freedom 250 Brussels. The invitation "may have ended up in your spam folder" so "please let us know whether you have received it or not".
And ICYMI re Kash Patel and Alexis Wilkins: https://t.co/UzZ4Dkey8h
Many #EU officials & MEPs got an invitation to a fancy US #Freedom250 party in Brussels
Amid US sanctions, military threats, position on 🇺🇦, bullying, repression and corruption, they should seriously consider ditching it, says @jameskanter 👇🏽

Party time for Trump and Zuck. Capitulation to 15% US tariff and postponement of AI rules to be voted "together on the same day" European Parliament’s Metsola tells META confab; says AI Act involved "a lot of conversations over the last months" with ambassador, presumably US.
Highlighting Europe's Artificial Intelligence potential at the @Meta AI Symposium.
Across the continent, investment is accelerating, from data centres to AI factories.
The foundations are there. The capacity is colossal. We now need the self-confidence to meet this moment.
Cyprus President @Christodulides publicly disagrees with @NATO's Mark Rutte over the ability of European Union to become autonomous and to show mutual support; praises Greece France Italy Spain and Netherlands for de facto activation of EU's Article 42.7. @epc_eu
For more on von der Leyen and the problematic influence of the "Staatsräson" be sure to listen to my discussion with German journalist Katrin Pribyl @kapstory. 3/3

Spain as expected makes strongest call for suspending the EU Association Agreement with Israel at today's foreign ministers' meeting. That's unlikely to happen. But it's worth listening to what @jmalbares had to say about what's at stake for Europe and the world in Gaza. 1/3
Meanwhile, just up the street, dilemmas for Germany created by responsibility for the Holocaust and ongoing atrocities by Israel in Gaza are catching up with @vonderleyen. The EC president's tone has been shifting but "Staatsräson" still seems to overhang policy and thinking. 2/3
Today the EU is restricting Chinese bidders on public contracts. But is this also a shot across the bows of the Trump administration. Tomorrow, US tech? @steph_sejourne@EU_Commission@AnnMettler
The gap in political ideology between young men and women In Europe? It's story that sells itself. But it may also hugely overblown. Tell that to your editor.
🚨 Are young women becoming more left-wing & young men more right-wing?
We analyzed 32 European countries (1990–2023).
📊Some show growing gaps—others don’t.
🇪🇺Gaps tend to be bigger where gender equality is higher.

One message. Stop posting pronouncements to this platform. Too much of the content is obviously endangering lives and destroying democracy. Please make Bluesky or similar your primary outlet. You have convening power. Use it. @vonderleyen@eucopresident@EP_President@Lagarde
Matteo Salvini wearing a shiny red Trump tie at European Council HQ in Brussels today. Sartorial options include tucking the tie into his Putin t-shirt for an authentically transcontinental Christian Nationalist vibe. #EUCO#cravattarossa
"Everyone is entitled to talk about tech. It's not just for engineers or computer scientists. It's an issue that impacts us all, so we need to step away from the idea that only the experts have a legitimate voice in this."

Facing an America that may no longer be an ally, Europeans need to decide how far and fast to shift from providers like Google and Microsoft. At stake: EU and national security, says @MarietjeSchaake. Tech yet another challenge as Trump-Vance take office.

The von der Leyen 2.0 Commission will go down history as the first EU administration relying upon political forces that aren’t democratic and pro-European.
It’s a legitimate political choice, sought and made by the EPP, the leading EU political force in the EU and ENABLED by the other mainstream political groups in the parliament.
It will carry high costs for the peoples of Europe and future generations as set to curtail the EU’s ability to govern itself in a brave new world according to a clearly defined set of priorities.
Welcome to the New Europe!
