That is exactly what many of us are asking about.

How does having multiple members of your own staff detained for days, while their individual involvement is still being investigated, align with protecting their interests?

Nobody is asking you to prejudice an investigation. We are asking why employees who have already been questioned and given statements are still being held, what efforts the company has made to protect their rights, and whether detention was really necessary for the investigation to continue.

Asking legitimate questions about the treatment of detained employees is not “unnecessary speculation.”

Transparency and accountability are not interference with an investigation.

I was at Panti yesterday with the families of those detained, from morning until almost midnight.

I listened to their stories. I saw wives crying, knowing their husbands were still locked up while their children were at home waiting for them.

One of the men still detained will be celebrating his birthday tomorrow. Another man’s wife just gave birth. The elderly parents of another had been there since 7am. My own brother is also among those being held.

These are people who went to work to provide for their families.

Is this really what this country has become? Can an employer simply point fingers at members of staff and have them detained while the investigation is still ongoing and individual culpability has not been established?

There has to be a line between investigating an allegation and subjecting people and their families to this kind of ordeal.
