@implausibleblog It’s a manifesto promise. They felt they had to promise to get into government.
I hope they are laying the foundation to rejoin but as commentators on the left we can’t pick and choose what manifesto promises we hold them to then shout when they don’t break the ones we want
@LizWebsterSBF Hislop holds no favours by then drawing out the potential hypocrisy at the time. Haigh had previously disclosed the issue to Starmer but when it became public he covered his misjudgment by saying that additional evidence had come to light, none was shown.
@LizWebsterSBF Are deliberately choosing to misunderstand the point Hislop was making.
Haigh was drawing false equivalence between herself and Reeves and suggesting different treatment. Hislop punctures her argument by getting her to admit she committed fraud. Reeves’ husband is bad at admin.
Stephen Kinnock explains the Dublin agreement where the UK could send asylum seekers back to the first country they stepped into the EU, when we were members of the EU
With Brexit, when we left the EU, we were no longer able to do that
Fiona Bruce interjects and says we didn't use the Dublin agreement to do that very often, and she's right
Because the Dublin agreement served as a deterrent
As soon as we left the EU, the deterrent was gone, and we were longer able to use it
That's also why Farage's Brexit Boats Of Asylum Seekers shot up after Brexit because they knew the UK was outside of the EU, and couldn't apply the Dublin agreement to return people
@johnredwood Everything for you is about immigration isn’t it. Stoke the hate. Nothing is about owning up to your parties privatisation policies and ridiculous capitalism. You are too stupid to feel the shame thinking others would feel in your place.
GB News, "If Net Zero is so blessed, why does the UK have the most expensive energy?"
Dr Rupert Read, "The energy companies are ripping us off"
GB News, "Centrica, parent company of British Gas said Net Zero will not reduce prices"
Dr Rupert Read, "Centrica is one of the companies ripping you off, obviously they're not going to tell you the truth"
"Just like GB News won't tell you the truth because you're owned by Paul Marshall who is a fossil fuel magnate"
"You're playing the tune your boss wants you to play"
@LizWebsterSBF I think you’re making a false comparison here. Trump is doing everything he promised, as long as you were listening. Starmer is doing everything he can within the constraints he promised.
I do agree on your Brexit point but he doesn’t have a mandate
