This sweet little town was Andy Griffith’s real hometown and the inspiration behind the fictional place so many of us still feel nostalgic for. While the show was never filmed here, the town has lovingly leaned into its connection with vintage storefronts, a tribute barber shop, classic diners, and even squad cars that look straight out of the show.

Just down the road sits Pilot Mountain, believed to be the real-life version of Mount Pilot. And if you’re a big fan, you can even spend the night at the Andy Griffith Homeplace, which has been preserved in 1930s-1940s style and is now a cozy bed and breakfast.

It’s one of those rare places that feels both real and like a memory you didn’t know you had. If you love The Andy Griffith Show, this town is absolutely worth the visit — and chances are, you’ll already be planning your next trip before you leave.

What could this be?

We know that many 9/11 eyewitnesses reported feeling the ground shake before and during the tower’s destruction - which implies an underground explosion.

We know that earthquake detectors recorded seismic events during the building’s destruction that are not consistent with falling debris hitting the ground.

This needs to be investigated further.
