@kennymxu 2/2 many DEI agendas include support for those URiM already admitted from matriculation to completion of programs. Many COM DEI agendas include outreach into community schools to improve access to medical education. Healthcare inequities are real and necessitate this work.
@kennymxu I wish you would gather in a room with those marginalized in medical school and residency programs who are past K12 & still being limited by biases they have no control over. I want you to tell them to their faces that they are less caliber and not worth supporting. 1/2
@kennymxu: “We’re proud of UNCs decision to reject framework that lowers the quality of doctors and inundates their students with ideologies that have nothing to do with what is medically necessary….” 1/2
Congratulations to @crustoc of #yalepsych and @YaleMed who has been chosen to receive the 2022 Outstanding Contributions for Mentorship in Racial Justice Award from the Society for Community Research and Action. https://t.co/VqGLM8BDNm
Loved listening to @JamieKeyDO speak to our PM&R interest group about the many DEI initiatives at @UKYMedicine@uk_pmr! It was very insightful, and a great reminder of how important this topic is! I am excited to continue pushing for better equity in healthcare!
We were honored to host @JamieKeyDO from @universityofky at our PMR club meeting! Dr. Key highlighted the importance of DEI in both medical education and PMR.
She also shared exciting initiatives underway at UK and gave valuable tips on how to prep ourselves for residency apps!
I know academic medicine gets a bad rap, and we definitely don't do it for the money... But relationships matter here. Hit with some news today and I realize how much I care for my past and present trainees.
Trainees are our greatest legacy. 🖤

Proud PD today, as I had the pleasure of assisting our incoming chief, Dr Larsen-Hallock as he led @InternalUk through a discussion on #ableism in healthcare. The interdepartmental collaboration is what makes @UKYMedicine stronger! #MedTwitter#Physiatry@uk_pmr @UKPMR_DEI
Nothing better than paying it forward at #AMEC2023 to room full of physician hopefuls and student doctors @SNMA
