According to The New York Times, Gov. Kathy Hochul asked Mayor Zohran Mamdani to endorse Espaillat. Mamdani refused. Instead, he backed democratic socialist challenger @DarializaforNY , giving her campaign a major progressive boost in the final stretch.

The race for New York’s 13th Congressional District is entering its final weeks, and Rep. Espaillat is fighting to hold onto his seat despite the Mayor’s backing.
