Support Kits for breastfeeding mums pumping milk for their babies in hospital ⭐️Not-for-profit⭐️ Created after my son had emergency surgery at 6 days old. Jan
❤️60 PumpPals delivered to Rotunda Hospital yesterday in memory of my mum who was a strong breastfeeding advocate in her day❤️
She had her 7 children @RotundaHospital + her 19 grandchildren all born there too.
We hope these 60 PumpPals help mums of sick & premature babies❤️
"Doctors often view illness as a biological phenomenon that needs medical intervention, while patients tend to view illness within the framework of their entire lives." @RitaCharon
Doctors, patients & caregivers see diagnoses differently.

@scolionetwork@MalcomsonLaw@SBH_PAG This family have been through enough, they’ve still along way to go to get their child healthy and well.
Instead of @CHI_Ireland assisting the family in every way imaginable, they are having to go to the high court to access his medical records.
As a mum whose son had heart surgery in CHI, the *disregard* shown for this child’s needs is sickening.
“The judge was asked to grant an injunction to the family compelling the hospital to release the records so the family could seek a 2nd opinion.” https://t.co/J3r1JlS078
“What you were presiding over was a recurring, foreseeable, predictable pattern of suboptimal outcomes, leaving children on waiting lists for so long… What did you do about it?”
@TomClonan bravely getting to the heart of the matter today.
Incredibly powerful contribution by @TomClonan at the Oireachtas Committee this afternoon. Worth watching the full thing. We really should be ashamed of the way children are treated in this country. Especially those who are going through so much already.

WHERE is the voice of the patient or family at the Oireachtas hearing today?
You would think listening to it that a hospital has suffered, not children and their families.
@CanHFSociety WHY IS THEIR NO REGISTRATION FEE FOR " PEOPLE WITH LIVED EXPERIENCE " -- you want us involved in research -- but not included in conferences
Excellent much-needed research capturing parents’ exp of childhood cancer in Ireland.
“people say oh isn’t it lucky that he’s still here…I can’t believe what you went through, as if it’s a past tense thing, but it’s not, it’s constantly going to be in your present.”
Congratulations to the very soon-to-be Dr @EmmaDelemere on her latest publication which explores the needs and challenges of families impacted by paediatric cancer.

@itsthatgirlsuzi Very interesting.
Relevant to @CHI_Ireland continuing policy of barring sick children from spending time with their siblings in hospital.
I wonder how many of my colleagues and collaborators in nutrition and equity had the same reaction I did to the story about breastfeeding and GCSE results? Which was ‘gaaaah. Argh.’ A THREAD.
