Good discussions yesterday with Norwegian State Secretary Marte Gerhardsen on deepening our defence ties. In an increasingly dangerous world, the UK and Norway stand together - on @NATO's northern flank and across the North Atlantic. Our partnership matters now more than ever🇬🇧🇳🇴
1. We are not easing sanctions on Russia.
2. From today, new sanctions take effect on Russian oil products processed in third countries.
3. As usual with sectoral sanctions we are introducing this in a phased way to mitigate risks on the energy market.
4 licences are temporary
We are today introducing new and strengthened sanctions on oil and gas, including immediate bans on a range of refined oil products, paraffin, naptha and lubricants.
In some areas, these new measures are being phased over the next few months to manage the risk to market stability, as has often happened with past sanctions.
It is completely wrong to say we are lifting any sanctions. We are strengthening them.

The King Penguins at @EdinburghZoo have a long 🇳🇴 history.
When the zoo first opened in 1913, it was gifted its first King Penguin by Norway. 60 years later, Lt Nils Egelien arranged for a penguin to be adopted by the King’s Guard. It was named after himself and King Olav V.
