@drumm_colin We will see the same pattern in my class High Finance in the Low Countries. Wars of succession, I suspect, hence the duration of generations?
@karthiktadepall Sounds right. We've been suggesting the same in my reading groups on Low Countries history; especially Dutch historiography has been using the institutional framework a lot. A theory to avoid more unpleasant alternative theories.
@drumm_colin working stab. Banks are institutions, which originate in central points of payments in the payments graph, which offer in the first place payment/transaction services to money users, and on top of that can offer credit services as well

I'm having trouble tracking down well-sourced quotations in which Abraham Lincoln comments directly on monetary politics and the greenbacks. There are a lot of fake quotations circulating. He's pretty laconic in Spaulding. Appreciate any good sources for Lincoln on greenbacks
