@Malcolm_theCat Thank you Malcy. We will have to try to be patient with our Bella. She’s on strict house arrest at the moment as she still has her feeding tube in. xx
@historydefined My father was a registrar of births, deaths, and marriages, and had to help organise the census locally. He used to come home with hilarious stories from the enumerators.
@AnneLouiseAvery Such moving writing, summing up the awfulness and terrible beauty of the cancer journey. My friend just told me today that she has been diagnosed with cancer and is just starting on this journey that no-one wants to take.
@Opiumbrella I remember when my daughter’s nursery school (40 years ago!) made pumpkin pie in cooking and all the children hated it. I decided that thirty small children couldn’t be wrong, and have never even tried it.
@JustJoshinNH I’m a bit aging but I really appreciate ‘consumables’ - flowers, chocolates, things I haven’t got to make space for and might not get myself. I also like expensive handcream etc!
Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.
