Secretary of State Jane Nelson met with Christophe Bernasconi, Secretary General for Private International Law in the Hague, to discuss a digital solution for apostilles. Our agency issues apostilles to authenticate documents Texans need to have recognized internationally.
The Office of the Texas Secretary of State issues more than 150,000 apostilles for vital records, diplomas, powers of attorney and other important documents each year. Currently, this process can only be completed in person or via mail. We are making great progress in our search for a digital solution and hope to make an announcement soon.
