I’ve been seeing people say that they wished more Black/African Americans knew about the Spirits, Deities, and folklore figures of our pantheon, so I complied a list from my research. Most people don’t know we have them or don’t recognize them due to accessibility of knowledge.
Here are the spirits/deities/folklore figures of our pantheon:
Uncle Monday
Papa Crossroads
Queen Annie Christmas
Cymbee
Mama Jo
High John de Conqueror
John Henry
De Holy Children
Anansi/ Aunt Nancy
Black Madonna (watch Secret Life of Bees)
US: Americans travel internationally all the time.
EU: Mexico and Canada don't count.
US: Why?
EU: They're close.
US: Ah. So proximity matters when Americans travel but not when Europeans do.
I will never, NEVER understand how they managed to convince so many people that simply wanting everyone to be safe and to thrive, and for the planet to be healthy and protected, is somehow a radical point of view.
Being lectured by white ppl on what’s racist and what’s not racist is hilarious that they think I care about their input on a system their ancestors created and they help uphold.
Now. In the generation before mine and above, it was VERY NORMAL for kids to get cigs & alcohol for their parents from the store. Yall don’t know this? Do yall talk to older ppl? Or….?? Genuinely wondering
No, in the United States you're not allowed to buy either of those items without showing ID. Children are not allowed to buy cigarettes or alcohol and many places don't even sell both
