Things that COUNT as progress:
-Daydreaming
-Reading
-Jotting down ideas
-Other artistic mediums that give you ideas
-Writing SOMETHING
-Outlining
-Doing something that helps your mental health
-Having a you day
-Anything that makes you better today than you were yesterday
The attitude that helps most with intense stress is not mindfulness. It’s hope.
In hard times, it’s overwhelming to live only in the present. What brings strength is anticipating a brighter future.
Resilience lies in remembering that today's burdens may be lighter tomorrow.
The best way to open people's minds isn't to argue with them. It's to listen to them.
When people feel understood, they become less defensive and more reflective—and develop less extreme, more nuanced views.
Productive disagreements begin with curiosity, not persuasion.
Ding dong, the 5-day office week is dead. People are working nearly 1/3 of days remotely.
Flexibility is worth as much to people as an 8% raise. What we value most is skipping the commute. We dislike schlepping more than working.

What you experience with one publisher does not mean every author will have that same experience. Actually, I can pretty much guarantee that will not be the case. https://t.co/Fd0y77a0i4

Why you shouldn't trust writers:
-They will steal your name
-They're constantly listening in on conversations for inspiration
-They will eat all your snacks
-By "open up to me" they mean "my characters need more inner conflict. Tell me yours"
-We know too much... about things
WRITERS! Share if you:
-Wrote today
-Have been writing for over a year
-Have been writing for over 5 years
-Decide to outline your sequel to the book you haven't written instead of sleeping
-Lie about what your book is REALLY about to not sound weird
-Are completely confused
I can never say this enough: support your writer friends. Ask them about their stories, ask for book recommendations, encourage them to write. Just believing in a writer makes a difference.
