Fear alone is not enough to motivate climate action; if people are afraid but don't know what to do, they will do nothing. That's why it's essential to communicate both the risks of inaction (the bad news) + the potential of action (the good news) in equal proportions.
@jemillerbalt As a Rehoboth resident, I know that the visitors and traffic we deal with all summer long make it impossible to do anything in a car. The best solution is to bike and DE has done a good job with trails. Now we just need helmet laws.
@PADI Since I’m still on the ‘newer’ side of scuba, I like my tank-banger for every dive and glow stick for night dives. I really need prescription goggles- I’m using those half-crescent readers that I attach inside the goggles but always lose one!
In 3 yrs this #solar installation at a high school in Arkansas turned the district budget from a $250K deficit to a $1.8 million surplus. They're using the surplus to increase teacher salaries.
We have the solutions. Implement them. #ActOnClimate#climate#renewables
@KHayhoe@khaustein Scary and true. As you know, we have solutions. They are being ignored. I’m working on reducing Scope 3 (supply chain) emissions with @M2030. Merely collecting data is useless- reduction is key. We work w suppliers to write Action Plans that are unique and effective for them.
@jemillerbalt I’m fighting for an immediate response to climate change and ashamed it is a political issue here! Shame on us!
Is your town: hotter, flooded, rife with respiratory disease? Are you moving to a place you can survive?
Are you unprepared?
Explain how this is political please…
@EmoNite0808 @jemillerbalt Ellicott City had TWO ‘thousand year storms’ (storms so severe that they should occur only once in a thousand years) in 3 years! Between a flooding Patapsco River and way too much cement, rain= floods! That’s what made me start a third career of trying to save our planet.
@ssteingraber1 Not sure how this fits with your studies, but check out the Justice40 initiative. I’m working w the @DOEE_DC in @WIClimateHealth, TN, OH and MI to add renewable energy in @HBCUBuzz, and other areas to kickstart the transition to RE. Policy change is…glacial (old days glacial)!
@drvolts The #DOEs RFPs for the funding of renewable energy in disadvantaged communities. Should make a massive improvement to neighborhoods and the deployment of clean energy!
