A position statement was issued by ASHA, the CFCC, and the AAC Specialty Certification Board. Evidently our concerns were significant enough to warrant a response. The statement suggested our concerns were not based in fact. We will respond. #stopaaccertification

If a group has "exclusive rights" to a certification area shouldn't they be transparent in what they are doing?
No one else is allowed to work in the speciality certification area except through the current board. No appeal. No change possible.

There are different, usually vague, reasons given for AAC Specialty Certification. Making it harder to get funding for AAC systems doesn't seem to be one them. So why move ahead when the vague outcomes & the huge downsides are in no way clear?

There was no election of ppl to lead the effort
There was no study
There was a survey saying, would you like to be recognized for what you do with no disclosure of any potential downside
Now there is NO recourse. That is why we do this. It's all we can do.
