You know what a burn pit smells like.
If you were there -- if you served in Iraq or Afghanistan -- you already know. That thick, chemical, wrong smell that never fully left the back of your throat. Plastics. Chemicals. Medical waste. Ordnance. Burning. All day. Every day. Right next to where you slept, where you ate, where you ran PT in the morning.
Nobody told you what it would do to your lungs.
His name was Richard Star. Army combat engineer from Ohio -- right near Cleveland. He cleared IED-laden roads so other soldiers could drive on them without dying. Desert Shield. Desert Storm. Iraq. Afghanistan. Kuwait. He went back. He kept raising his hand. He breathed those burn pits for years -- the same smoke, the same chemical air, the same carcinogens that had no business being in a human lung.
In 2018, that smoke caught up with him. Stage 4 metastatic lung cancer. The VA rated it 100% service-connected. His own government certified in writing that the United States of America's burn pits gave Richard Star terminal cancer.
He was medically retired before hitting 20 years. Not because he quit. Because there was nothing left to give.
And then the Army sent him a letter.
The letter showed two numbers. The first number was what Richard Star had EARNED in military retirement -- what the United States government had promised him when he raised his right hand and swore an oath and then spent decades keeping it. The second number -- what he would ACTUALLY receive -- was zero.
Zero dollars. Zero cents.
His 100% VA disability rating for the cancer eating his lungs wiped out his entire retirement check through the concurrent receipt offset. Dollar for dollar. Every single penny of retirement pay he had earned, gone. A man dying of cancer he got in uniform, holding a piece of paper from his own government that said his retirement was worth nothing.
If you have buried someone from burn pit exposure, I need you to sit with that image.
Your brother. Your battle buddy. Your soldier. Sitting at a kitchen table. Oxygen tank next to the chair. Chemo running through his veins. Holding a government letter that says zero.
That is what happened to Richard Star.
His wife Tonya quit her career to become his full-time caregiver. While she sat next to him through every treatment, while their household ran on whatever the VA disability check provided, while the retirement check the Army told him he'd earned sat at zero -- Tonya was also fighting. Calling. Writing. Testifying. Standing in congressional hearing rooms telling her husband's story to the people who had the power to fix it.
Richard never stopped either. He traveled on oxygen tanks to advocate for this bill. He could barely stand. He fought for the 50,000 veterans behind him who were carrying the same injustice, because that is what that kind of man does -- he thinks about the ones behind him even when he is the one dying.
He died February 13, 2021. He was 51 years old.
Tonya kept going. She kept his name alive in every room she could reach, because she loved him and because she refused to let what happened to Richard happen to the next family.
Tonya passed away on August 12, 2024. She was also 51 years old.
Both of them gone at 51. Both of them fighting until they could not.
The bill still not law.
Right now -- today, this month, this year -- there are 50,000 veterans receiving that same letter Richard received. Two numbers. What they earned. What they actually get. And for too many of them, the second number is devastating. Some of them are already sick. Some of them already have the diagnosis. Some of them are sitting at kitchen tables with oxygen tanks next to the chair, opening mail from the government that sent them to those burn pits, wondering if this country is going to keep its promise before they run out of time.
Sgt. Lyle Allen. 14 years. Multiple deployments to Iraq. His vehicle hit an IED. He does not remember much after that -- just the medics' faces above him. The VA certified his TBI as 100% permanently and totally disabling -- it will never improve. The offset wiped out his retirement. He calls himself "retired without retirement." He says the country is "turning their backs" on him.
A Marine. 17 years. Three combat tours. An IED in Afghanistan took both of his legs. THREE YEARS from the 20-year mark. Three years. The government took his legs in the service of this nation and then took his retirement check on top of it because of a calendar.
These are not abstractions. These are the men who were standing next to you downrange. The ones who smelled what you smelled. The ones who drove those roads.
The bill to fix this is the MAJOR RICHARD STAR ACT. Current 119th Congress: H.R. 2102 in the House, sponsored by Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) with Rep. Raul Ruiz (D-CA), introduced March 14, 2025. S. 1032 in the Senate, sponsored by Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) with bipartisan co-sponsors including Mike Crapo, Elizabeth Warren, and Rick Scott. Previous Congress: H.R. 1282 in the House and S. 344 in the Senate -- died without a floor vote.
Current co-sponsors: 322+ in the House. Nearly 80 in the Senate. The Wounded Warrior Project, MOAA, VFW, IAVA -- virtually every major veterans organization in this country -- stands behind this bill. The votes exist. The will to schedule them does not.
On March 3, 2026, Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin blocked this bill on the Senate floor. Twice. Once on unanimous consent. Then again when a compromise was offered for a simple recorded roll call. He did not want the bill to pass. He did not want to go on record opposing it either.
His reason: cost.
Richard Star got a letter that said zero. Senator Johnson found that affordable.
I need you to make a phone call. Right now. While this is still in your chest where it belongs.
SENATE SWITCHBOARD: (202) 224-3121.
Tell them: "I am calling to demand my senator support S. 1032, the Major Richard Star Act, and force a floor vote. Combat-wounded veterans are dying while this sits in committee."
HOUSE SWITCHBOARD: (202) 225-3121.
Tell them: "I am calling to ask my representative to co-sponsor H.R. 2102 and demand leadership schedule a floor vote."
Then share this post. Every share puts Richard Star's name in front of someone who has not heard it yet. Every share might reach a veteran who does not know they are owed this money right now. Every share might reach the family member who makes the call that changes the vote.
Richard Star traveled on oxygen tanks to fight for veterans he would never meet.
The least we can do is make a phone call.

But what do I know -- I am only a medically retired Army combat medic who breathed that same air, who served alongside men who came home carrying things that would kill them slowly, and who has spent years watching a government that sends people to war find every possible excuse not to keep its promises when they come back broken.

NO - WE ABSOLUTELY DON'T NEED OIL AND GAS BECAUSE.......WELL JUST BECAUSE and the profiteers want to force incapable forms of energy on us so they can continue to profit from subsidies.......
OF COURSE, WE NEED OIL AND GAS TO ENERGIZE OUR PLANET.
Time to wake up and realize oil and gas are a cheaper form of energy and are capable of energizing our world.
BTW - It's time to send all the invaders home who hate American and who won't assimilate to our culture, but are intent to force the culture they are running from on the American people.
Maybe when they start trying to cut the heads off of American citizens in the streets like this foreigner did in Belfast - something will be done to make sure it won't happen in America.
DAY 9 of National Gun Violence Awareness Month. And today I want to talk to every person who has ever told a woman she does not need a gun.
It is a Friday night in December. Waco, Texas. You are alone. The neighborhood is quiet. And then your back door explodes.
Not a knock. A KICK. Two men. Masks. Already inside before your brain finishes processing what just happened.
December 12, 2025. Speight Avenue. We do not know her name — she did not ask for coverage. What we know comes from the police report and the emergency room records. Because that last part matters.
She fired approximately eleven rounds. The two men fled.
Twenty minutes later, a 32-year-old named Antonio Chavez was dropped off at Baylor Scott and White with a bullet in his forearm. He was already on the books for two violations of a protective order and continuous violence against family. The system had already met Antonio Chavez. The system had already given someone a piece of paper to keep him away. He violated it twice. Then he put on a mask and kicked in a woman's back door.
His bond was set at $276,000. The woman was never charged. Because Texas law is perfectly clear about what you are allowed to do when two masked men kick in your door.
She had a gun. She is alive. Full stop.
Now the numbers. Because this is still a science classroom.
Women are seven to eleven times more likely to use a gun for self-defense than to be murdered. Not safer with a gun — DRAMATICALLY safer. The University of Chicago — not exactly a right-wing institution — calculated that more relaxed carry laws between 1977 and 1992 would have prevented 1,570 murders, 4,177 rapes, and 60,000 aggravated assaults every single year. John Lott found that when concealed carry laws were adopted, rape rates fell measurably, county by county, because predators respond to the possibility of an armed victim the same way every living thing responds to mortal risk — they avoid it.
The Supreme Court already told you in DeShaney v. Winnebago County (1989) and Town of Castle Rock v. Gonzales (2005) that the government has no legal obligation to protect you. The protective order Chavez violated twice was a piece of paper. The court issued it. The system recorded his violations. And on a cold December Friday in Waco, the piece of paper was nowhere in that room when the door came in.
The gun was.
The gun control crowd says they want women to be safe. Then they spend June trying to disarm the tool that makes women seven to eleven times more likely to survive an attack. Those two positions cannot coexist in good faith.
She did not ask to be a symbol. She just wanted her door to stay closed. When it did not, she handled it.
But what do I know — I am only a combat medic, a science teacher, and the father of daughters who will know how to handle it too.

🚨 HOLY SMOKES. Governor candidate Steve Hilton just revealed the stunning reality of California fraud: They ALLOW mail-in ballots to BACKDATE by HAND so they can be counted late, and not invalid
"It's NOT just the postmark. YOU CAN HAND-WRITE THE DATE!"
"Just to be really clear: you can BACKDATE YOUR BALLOT."
"BY HAND."
"And it will be counted."
"That's how insane this system is."
This is MADNESS!! 🤯
BILLY BUSH: "That is OUTRAGEOUS."
@hotmicsbilly
Most people who believe in human dignity have no idea where the idea came from.
It didn’t come from the Enlightenment or from the United Nations. It came from Genesis 1:27.
In the ancient world value was only reserved for kings, rulers, and the powerful, Scripture declared that every human being bears the image of God.
The rich and the poor, the strong and the weak….the powerful and the forgotten.
That idea changed the world and it still does.
“So God created man in his own image…” — Genesis 1:27 (KJV) ✝️
When statistically impossible things happen, we should not be expected as a society to accept them. Evidence of fraud isn’t limited to video surveillance. Statistical impossibilities are hard evidence of fraud.
LIAR!!! RACIST!!! I genuinely do not know which label fits you more, Gavin, so I went with both. Congratulations -- that is a rare achievement even by California standards.
You think you can actually be President of the United States of America? YOU? The man who inherited one of the highest GDPs in the entire world -- a state so blessed by geography, climate, and natural resources that it practically sells itself -- and somehow, SOMEHOW, turned it into a bankrupt, needle-carpeted, feces-adorned open-air disaster zone that people are FLEEING at a rate of 229,000 per year? The climate sold California for you, Gavin. You just covered it in human waste and used syringes and then had the audacity to call it governance.
I would not allow you to run my kids' lemonade stand so they could take a break. They would come back to find a sugar tax, a $20 minimum wage for the 8-year-old pouring the lemonade, and the stand on fire while you held a press conference explaining how it was someone else's fault. You are the human version of period cramps, and I mean that with the full clinical precision of a man who has a science degree.
Now. You want to talk Jim Crow 2.0? Oh, I am SO glad you brought this up.
LIAR. HISTORICAL LIAR.
Here is a fact that is going to get your two brain cells arguing with each other: MAJORITY-BLACK CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICTS WERE BORN FROM JIM CROW. Not created to help Black Americans. Created to CONTAIN them. Packing and cracking -- look it up, or have someone read it to you slowly, with pictures, maybe even use cryons.
After Reconstruction ended, Black Republicans -- and yes, I said REPUBLICANS, Gavin, because that is what they were -- had been elected to Congress in real, significant numbers. Sixteen Black Republicans served in Congress between 1870 and 1901 alone. So what did the WHITE SOUTHERN DEMOCRATS do when they regained power? They drew the infamous "Boa Constrictor" district in South Carolina in 1882 -- a snake-shaped, gerrymandered monstrosity specifically designed to pack every Black voter into ONE box so the other six districts stayed lily-white and Democratic. Mississippi's "Shoestring" district did the exact same thing along the river. Virginia rewrote city charters in 1883 to eliminate Black representation on city councils entirely.
The whole point -- and I am typing this slowly for you (I know, that went over his head too), Gavin, trying to reason with some folks really is like trying to baptize a cat -- was: give them ONE seat, lock them all in it, and make sure they cannot win ANYTHING ELSE. That is your party's legacy. That is the system you are now defending as sacred.
And now you have the nerve, the absolute weapons-grade audacity, to stand in 2026 and accuse Louisiana of Jim Crow for undoing a race-based district when THE ORIGINAL JIM CROW WAS YOUR PARTY INVENTING RACE-BASED DISTRICTS IN THE FIRST PLACE.
You have delusions of adequacy, Governor. That is being generous.
Let us talk about YOUR California, since you seem to have developed a spectacular case of selective amnesia about your own house:
MINIMUM WAGE -- YOUR FAVORITE RACIAL JUSTICE POLICY: In the early 1900s, progressive economists -- YOUR intellectual ancestors, Gavin -- advocated for minimum wage laws SPECIFICALLY as a mechanism to price Black workers and immigrants out of the labor market. Princeton economist Thomas Leonard documented this extensively. White unions raised wage floors not to help workers, but to protect white union jobs from Black laborers willing to work for less. The Davis-Bacon Act of 1931 was pushed by Southern Democrats and northern union bosses SPECIFICALLY to wall off Black construction workers from federal projects. Nobel Prize-winning economist Milton Friedman in 1966 called minimum wage "the most anti-Negro law on our statute books." And here you are, championing California's $20 minimum wage as a civil rights achievement. I'm not saying I hate you, what I'm saying is that you are literally the Monday of my life -- every single day.
EXCLUSIONARY ZONING -- YOUR ACTUAL HOUSING POLICY: California's zoning laws price Black and Brown families out of neighborhoods. Lakewood, California was 99% white in 1960. That was not an accident. The minimum lot sizes and single-family zoning requirements were DESIGNED -- explicitly -- to set a price floor that kept minority families out. Today your housing policies continue to produce the same result with different paperwork. You have a 3.8 million unit housing shortfall in California. First-time homebuyer median age is now 40. In CA, most working families could not buy a tent under a bridge! And the people locked out of homeownership -- the single greatest wealth-building tool in American history -- are disproportionately young, Black, and Brown. That is YOUR legacy. That is your Jim Crow 2.0, dressed up in environmental regulations and CEQA review requirements.
I think you might actually be the reason there are directions on a shampoo bottle. I genuinely do.
HOMELESSNESS -- YOUR HUMANITARIAN ACHIEVEMENT: Homelessness in California rose 31.6% under your tenure, while the national rate DECLINED 10%. Your state, 12% of the national population, now houses ONE THIRD of all homeless Americans. These are disproportionately Black Americans, Gavin. But sure -- tell me more about how Louisiana is the problem.
EDUCATION -- THE CLEAREST PLANTATION POLICY: California public schools are in measurable decline in reading and math. Declining performance, declining enrollment. The children receiving the worst education in your state are overwhelmingly Black and Brown kids in urban districts that your party has run for decades. You are the reason those children cannot compete. You pull up the ladder, call it progressivism, and then point fingers at the people who are trying to fix the system you broke. Somewhere out there is a tree tirelessly producing oxygen for you. You owe it an apology.
THE GREAT SOCIETY CONNECTION -- BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT: In 1965, roughly 80-85% of Black children were raised in two-parent households. Then the Democratic Party's welfare architecture arrived -- designed not to lift people out of poverty but to replace the father with a government check, ensure permanent dependency, and secure a reliable voting bloc. Within a generation, that figure collapsed. The Democratic Party has always needed an underclass. In the antebellum South, it was slaves. During Jim Crow, it was segregated Black populations denied economic mobility. Today it is poorly educated, welfare-dependent families who have been told for sixty years that Republicans are the enemy while Democrats keep cashing their votes and delivering nothing. Quinn's Law #2: what liberals ACCUSE conservatives of doing is EXACTLY what they are doing.
And then there is the Greg Abbott comment. I heard you say Greg Abbott "doesn't have the backbone." You know -- the Governor. The one in a wheelchair. Due to a severed spine. I'm amazed YOU found your way out of the birth canal, I really am.
You're the reason God created the middle finger, Gavin. And I say that as someone who spent a career studying anatomy and can tell you precisely which one.
Here is the bottom line: You did not just fail California. You failed California's Black community specifically, with policies that trace directly back to the same racist architecture your party invented a century and a half ago. Minimum wage to price out Black workers. Zoning to price out Black families. Under-resourced schools to keep Black children underprepared. Welfare dependency to keep Black votes on the Democratic plantation. And then the cherry on top -- you stand up and call SOMEONE ELSE Jim Crow.
Quinn's Law #1: Liberalism always generates the EXACT OPPOSITE of its stated intent.

NBC got its prize: a sit-down with the President for a Meet the Press exclusive, taped in a Wisconsin barn before a farming roundtable. It did not go to plan. Rain hammered the metal roof, the audio failed, and roughly fifty minutes in — with the conversation turned to the still-uncounted California vote — Kristen Welker lost her guest for good.
She pressed him on his claim that the race out west was being stolen. 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦’𝘴 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦, Trump told her. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘨𝘦𝘥. 𝘐𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘥𝘪𝘳𝘵𝘺 𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘯 𝘊𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘢. Welker pushed back, again and again — 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘷𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 — and he refused to hand her a brief. 𝘈𝘭𝘭 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰 𝘪𝘴 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬, he said. Welker scrambled to keep him in the chair, protesting that she had traveled all the way to Wisconsin through the rain and given him his time. He left her with one parting instruction — 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘯 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴, 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘣𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘵 one — and then he simply stood up and walked. During a five-day enforcement operation from May 11-15, 2026, Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents arrested 52 individuals illegally present in the United States along major Arizona highways (I-8, I-10, and I-40). Of those arrested, 36 were found actively operating commercial vehicles—many with commercial driver’s licenses issued from California, New York, Washington, and Virginia despite their illegal status.
The individuals were nationals of India, Turkey, Mexico, Russia, and El Salvador. Several individuals possessed Employment Authorization Documents, which were obtained during the previous administration that are no longer valid. All individuals were processed and will be deported in accordance with federal law.

It was long past midnight when Sen. Mike Lee turned to the chamber: 𝘞𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘷𝘰𝘵𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘵. During the Senate’s June 4 vote-a-rama he dragged the SAVE America Act onto the floor and forced every colleague on the record. The bill could not be simpler: prove you are a citizen when you register, and show ID when you vote.
Then he made the comparison no Democrat wanted to hear — that countries from Mexico and Brazil to India, Argentina, Peru, and even Botswana already require voter ID, while the United States does not. 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐞 𝐝𝐨.

When the yays and nays were called, the amendment carried fifty to forty-nine. Susan Collins crossed over to back it. Every single Democrat voted no. Because Lee had offered it as a budget waiver, it needed sixty — so a majority of the Senate said yes to citizenship at the ballot box, and Democrats blocked it anyway. Canadian taxpayer working his ass off confronts a woman in Toronto’s Union Station who he says gets $83k per year in free government benefits, housing, medical, etc. — yet she’s panhandling anyway.
‘Free rent, free car, free everything… I’m working my ass off.’
She flips him off, covers her face, then smiles for the camera.
This is the Canadian immigration/refugee system in action. How is this sustainable?
Taxpayers are getting crushed while this continues. But we aren’t too far behind this same level of madness here.
