@ggreenwald There are legitimate criticisms of Putin but if you listened to the mainstream Western discourse about him you'd think he's some omnipotent bond villain. Its a completely nonsensical form of russiophobia where there is no rational discourse.
@POTUS Now maybe you can use that diplomacy to do things like lift the unjust sanctions off the Venezuelan people there as well as the sanctions on Iran and return back to the nuclear deal.
@APTNNews@fsinations Well it seems as if the grassroots movement for change is gradually having affect. I think that given the fact that he has apologised in Bolivia and Mexico to indigenous people there it will happen. Though it should have already happened.

@perrybellegarde It would seem as though another front to reconciliation is being opened up due to the activism of indigenous peoples and people of good will after the horrific discovery at Kamloops

@Ruth_HHopkins People have to brace for this stuff because every residential school site has potential mass graves. And not just the Catholic ones. I looked this one up and this is a Methodist run residential school.
@Remroum What Ilhan Omar said is literally no different from some of the things Martin Luther King said about the United States government being the greatest purveyor of violence and being guilty of war crimes. And funny enough he was accused of being a stooge for "radio hanoi".
@RashidaTlaib The language that Ilhan Omar used is no different from the language that Martin Luther King Jr used to describe America's foreign policy. He said America is the greatest purveyor of violence and guilty of war crimes. If he said that today he'd be called a terrorist sympathiser
@CharlieAngusNDP@JustinTrudeau Isn't Trudeau the same guy who says that the Pope and the Vatican and the Catholic Church should "step up"? And yet he can't even step up on this issue of not fighting First Nations children in court? Doesn't even show up for the vote?
@JillFilipovic I am a consistent opponent of cancel culture mobs and that includes this case as well. However comparing this to Biden being a Catholic is an apples and oranges comparison. That's like saying this is comparable to Sadiq Khan the mayor of London being a Muslim.
Right after dealing with the news of the 215 at Kamloops residential schools we have an Islamophobic shooter carrying out a brutal attack. As Canadians we should come to grips with the racism and prejudice in our country.
@Ruth_HHopkins It shouldn't be this difficult. If the Pope can apologise to the indigenous peoples of Bolivia in front of Evo Morales surely he can apologise to the indigenous peoples of Canada who survived residential school.

@Ruth_HHopkins People should remember Canadian residential schools here were based off the American Industrial schools due to things like the Davin Report. Its also a sad fact that the people who started these things were people who considered themselves abolitionsts(Ulysses Grant)
@JillFilipovic His government is also denying full legal compensation to First Nations survivors of residential schools and is himself sitting on a whole host of records that he refuses to release except with regards to them redacting them. So his criticism of the Pope is utter hypocrisy.
@JillFilipovic Justin Trudeau is also a virtue signalling hypocrite who pretends to be progressive saying the Pope needs to "step up" while he is taking First Nations kids to court next week here in Canada to deny them compensation even though the courts say they are legally obligated to(cont)
@theJagmeetSingh Trudeau in one breathe says the Pope needs to step up and take responsibility. Then in another breathe doesn't take responsibility when it comes to him taking first nations children to court and blocking compensation for residential school survivors. Utterly hypocrisy.
@JillFilipovic Agreeing with a organisation like the Catholic Church on some issues doesn't mean you agree with them on everything. I agree with Liberation theologians in Latin America fighting for peasant rights for instance. That doesn't mean I agree with them on everything.
@JamesMartinSJ@gerryorome@JamesMartinSJ Call to action 58 of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada calls for a specific apology by the Pope on Canadian soil for the crimes committed. Beyond expressions of sorrow that didn't happen yesterday so many survivors in Canada are disappointed.
You can make a difference today! Tell your MP to vote yes in Parliament this afternoon to end the federal government’s litigation against Residential School Survivors and this generation of First Nations children.
@Pontifex@Pontifex Please come to terms with saying the simple words "I am sorry and take responsibility" when it comes to residential schools in Canada. An expression of sorrow, while important is not enough and many survivors here have said as much. Please say the words "I am sorry".
@TheoreticalBS Its funny he's saying this cause the Old Testament also says:
"they shall beat there swords into ploughshares and their spears into pruning hooks"(Isaiah 2:4)
The weapons of violence converted into instruments of peace.
