Chiang Mai was once under Burmese rule, so any Burmese cultural influence should be acknowledged if supported by historical evidence. Claiming another culture as entirely your own while denying its origins is misleading.#RespectMyanmarCulture

[Jannyri @Jannyriwyn]

@TayTawanMyanmar @GMMTV @ScarletHeartTH @Giggoo_ They mocked on the internet some actor posted as they don’t really care about it.

[Jannyri @Jannyriwyn]

@PerthOfficialTH So you have Attitude problems???

[Jannyri @Jannyriwyn]

@Zetvlsb Thai people’s attitude problems, they threaten& assault on the girl who posted about respect the culture.

[Jannyri @Jannyriwyn]

@thanda72830 အားပေးနေကြတဲ့ဟာတွေလဲ ဘယ်လိုဦးနှောက်တွေနဲ့အဲ့လိုလူတန်းစားမျိုးကို အားပေးနေကြလဲမသိ

[Jannyri @Jannyriwyn]

@tonliewinyour_ @fforcejs @ScarletHeartTH It’s show his attitude & behavior.

[Jannyri @Jannyriwyn]

@dr_darann I appreciate that Nine Naphat acknowledged Myanmar and Prince Mingyi Swa in his speech. That is a respectful gesture, and I’m not denying it. He is a famous actor among Burmese people & we love him.

[Jannyri @Jannyriwyn]

@demii_rin Don’t you get my point?? Why don’t they credited to the historical heritage origins & act like their own.

[Jannyri @Jannyriwyn]

@Eindravtp92 What are you even talking about??? Don’t you get my point?? GMTV claimed that dress was Lana dress under Burmese rule. Once under rules doesn’t means a culture that did not means to neglect historical origin. They misused the Burmese cultural heritage as their own.

𝐇𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐧 (ထိုင်မသိမ်း) is not simply a name for a traditional Burmese outfit. It refers to a specific garment with its own history, construction, and cultural significance.

Myanmar's traditional clothing evolved across different dynasties, and the styles worn during the early Konbaung period, Amarapura era, and later Yadanabon period were not necessarily the same. Even the cut of a garment, its fastening, its decorative details, and the way it was worn could reflect a particular period and social rank.

Htaingmathein is traditionally understood as a woman's upper garment, worn with a byan htamein (ဗြန့်ထဘီ), rather than a term for the entire ensemble. These distinctions may seem minor to some, but when the terminology is repeatedly used incorrectly, an important part of cultural knowledge can gradually be lost.

This is precisely why historical research matters in period dramas. Traditional clothing is not merely an aesthetic choice; it carries information about the people, period, and culture it represents.

When costumes in #ScarletHeartThailand appear to draw on Myanmar court attire, it raises a legitimate question: were the garments researched according to their historical origins, construction, and period, or were different styles combined simply because they looked suitable for a historical setting?

Lanna and Myanmar share a long and complex history, but historical connections do not make their respective clothing traditions interchangeable. Similarities should be examined in context, and identifiable cultural influences deserve accurate recognition.

Historical fiction allows creative freedom, but creative freedom does not make historical research optional. When a production invests years in developing a period drama, understanding the origins of the clothing used to build its world should be part of that preparation. Otherwise, what is presented as historical atmosphere risks becoming a mixture of cultural references without sufficient historical grounding.

𝙊𝙪𝙧 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙜𝙖𝙧𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙣𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙨, 𝙝𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨. They deserve more than to be treated as interchangeable costumes.

We sincerely hope @GMMTV and the @ScarletHeartTH production team will provide appropriate acknowledgment of Myanmar's cultural heritage wherever it has been incorporated into the series. If these elements are retained, I hope their origins will be clearly credited in the episodes or accompanying production materials.

Reply to People Bringing Up Myanmar’s Political Situation‼️‼️

Myanmar’s current political situation has absolutely nothing to do with whether Myanmar people have the right to speak about their cultural heritage.

People can struggle for peace, safety, and a better future while still caring about their history. These are not competing priorities.

Using a country’s suffering to mock its people for defending their culture is neither a relevant argument nor a respectful response.

Our struggles do not erase our history. Our circumstances do not make our heritage less valuable. And our voices do not become less worthy of being heard because our country is going through a crisis.

Please keep the discussion focused on cultural representation instead of using Myanmar’s situation against Myanmar people.

We Demand Action from GMMTV
