According to the Book of Genesis, Noah's Ark landed on the "mountains of Ararat" after the Great Flood. This region, now including Armenia and parts of eastern Turkey and Iran, is historically associated with the ancient kingdom of Urartu, which is believed to be the origin of the name Ararat, and the resting place of Noah’s Ark.
