I think we lose sight of what regime change is. It is popular to identify the word "regime" in a very negative light. In the US we have a "regime change" every 4-8 years. Granted this is through a relatively democratic process, but it is still changing the previous regime for a new one. Especially if the political party changes also. All of the cabinet appointees are changed, as are most of the political appointees from the previous "regime".

This is all semantics. What we really do not want is a violent "regime change", or a change that just brings one dictatorship to replace the previous one. That usually results in a violent purge of the previous regime and the common people still suffer and have no voice. Until the people themselves want a change and are allowed to choose their "regime", it will never work in the long run.

We need to choose our words wisely.
