In China, there isn't even a path to Naturalization.
So there is that.
Otoh, if you speak high enough level Japanese, are Asian and blend in, very many times even your friends will consider you Japanese until they bring up something nostalgic and universal all Japanese new in that cohort while growing up - and then go,
Japanese "What, how could you not know that?
Foreign Friend: "Well, I was born in Korea/Taiwain/China....."
Japanese: "Omg, you are so Japanese I keep forgetting."
The problem Japan has faced is structural which is why it had such a post war, Cambrian explosion of creativity, innovation, invention and growth - societal restraints were buried in rubble and ash.
TSMC has a fake origin story, btw.
None of what is publicly discussed has any truth to how it was created.
It was basically gifted before that) and green lit by the US government just as South Korean memory production and US acquisitions were green lit by the US Govt and Japan was cockblocked from moving into M&A mode in Logic devices.
Mature firms often morph into M&A firms - Google and Cisco as to primary examples of M&A firms.
Not just money. Any competent recruiter in Japan knows this. I have recruited for firms that would offer 2x a persons salary very big salaries and they were shocked almost no one took it.
I had to design a very specific recruiting system for them to counter this and the company hiring was famous.
And even in the west, if it were only money then you would almost never up with some the biggest or most important companies that built for other reasons mostly status or ideology or enablement or anger - other wise they would have gotten a high paying corporate job themselves.
Steve Jobs wouldn't even exist if he hadn't stolen his first act from Xerox PARC. And his second act from Docomo imode and Sony.
In fact, everything about Jobs and Apple was modeled on Akio Morita and Sony.
The difference is Sony invented, built, dreamed.
Apple just copied and controlled.
While Sony fought for our digital rights and took a case to the US Supreme Court and won, Apple worked with ADL etc. to block, control and prevent our rights.
It's not a talent problem.
It's a leadership problem.
And a structural (laws, licensing, capital accumulation, formation and access) and cultural problem (permanant loss of status & fatal career wounds, labor immobility, etc.) though slowly being solved over last 25 years.
The talent exists. It always did. But the we have rent seeking incumbents who use regulatory capture to control markets rather than innovating or worse, they innovate but don't aggressively monetize in the market place or defend their IP.
Sony Walkman (1979) --> Apple ipod (2001)
Sony Vaio (1996) --> Apple imac (1998)
Sony Media Store (1994) --> Apple itunes (2003)
Toshiba Media Store (1996) --> Apple itunes (2003)
Sony Location Free TV (2004)--> Slingmedia/Sling (2005) -- 100% copied from Sony LFTV
Docomo imode & walled garden (1999) --> Apple iphone (2007)
Docomo imode & applis (2001) --> Apple istore 2008
Can list dozens and dozens of these as well as failure for Tezuka's Estate/Company (Kimba the White Lion, 1950 & in 1965 a long running anime/cartoon in the US) to destroy Disney (Simba the Lion King, 1994) and force disgorgement of all revenues ($53 Billion and counting) from stealing the White Lion franchise.
The rest came from US Government, Pentagon and Industry fights against Japan in 1980s because the US couldn't compete in many or most semicon fab process nodes, materials, chemicals, memory and logic was about to get eaten. Automobiles, motorbikes, marines engines, autoparts, consumer white goods and appliances, consumer electronics - audio, video, tv, video games, etc..
This means when the incumbents stumble, hungry foreign companies (like Apple, Slingbox, etc.) scoop up the business and markets rather than hungry Japanese domestic incumbents who would do that.
Amazing to watch your psychopathological projection as you goon over suspected "low iq rightoids".
Why would a Japanese stand for even one crime being committed by a foreigner?
Any crime committed by a foreigner is an imported crime.
Japan doesn't need to import crimes.
Japan already has domestic crimes (plus US Military crimes).
But according to you, if the number of times your house was robbed by foreigners decreased by 50% even though the number of foreigners living in your neighborhood tripled, you should kvell and be ecstatic.
And anyone who would be pissed about that must be a low iq rightoid instead of you being a low iq goontard.
Why would any Japanese be happy with even one crime being committed by a foreigner?
It's like being happy that the number of times you got food poisoning decreased by 50% as the number of times you ate out tripled.
What's the benefit of paying to get food poisoning?
Who would tolerate that?
The best talent in the world is useless if they don't have a platform to plug into.
The problem is structural rigidity and lack (but getting much better) of hungry startups to compost the incumbent or force them to innovate and monetize those innovations.
Look at the tragedy that Docomo imode pissed away as well as both Sony (hardware and huge music and film content they owned through acquisitions) and Toshiba (hardware and Warner Brothers etc. of music nd film content they owned through acquisitions) that was just never monetized.
Sony also just allowed Apple to ripoff the Walkman and create a solid state version (ipod), clone their Sony Viao and just sit on their ass and watch and watch Sling/SlingMedia rip off and clone their Location Free TV).
Add in mixi, too and a dozen others.
In fact, Sony's Death Warrant was literally signed by the Gaijin CEO Sir Howard Stringer - he killed Sony.
Completely incorrect on why Japan lost out in software.
Japan had sufficient domestic talent from semiconductors to software but there were a combination of problem from lack of venture capital to incumbent "leaders" who were cockblocking the domestic talent from either building or worse, from shipping and monetizing the developed products.
In other cases, it was the huge incumbent domestic customers who only wanted 100% customized and bespoke software solutions while sloppy westerners would take the off the shelf 60% to 65% solution in packaged software and try to modify it or hack something together and over time each packaged software would have more features and support more use cases. When it transitioned to the cloud, Japanese didn't have much to transition in terms of enterprise and productivity apps.
The rest was dependent on market segment.
In video games, Japan dominated.
Embedded systems, Japan dominated.
PC OS market - Japan was told straight out by US State Dept and NSA/CIA/FBI cartel to btfo or face full scale tradewar.
In terms of walled gardens and hardware-software coupling, Docomo imode and Sony were light years ahead of Apple and others.
But internal politics as well as moronic management mandates delayed or derailed these efforts.
Japan was simply "ahead" on all of these social trends related to reproduction/fertility.
A Japanese told me back in 2008 that focus on "food" is to not offend anyone and you see this explode over the last 6 years in the West.
Japan first MGTOW country, much of the rest followed in its footsteps.
Good looking women paying for sex....and then selling themselves to fund that,(been happening for decades) in the West now too at the normie level.
Blackberry's were smartphones and were so addictive, they were called "Crackberries".
Docomo iMode (1999) were smart phones as well with the first walled garden, apps stores, apps, etc.
In fact a 2007 Docomo iMoe experience had far more going for it than a 2007 iPhone experience - iPhone didn't even have basic features like copy and paste or an app store / 3rd party apps until 2008.
I don't disagree. And that's the paradox of Japan.
It maintains the status quo and rides the waves well.
But once it hits the inflection point, it will shift overnight (e.g Meiji Restoration, WWII, post-WWII, then slow decline).
In these cases, this a foreign adjuvant shakes it up. This is why often mild Gai-atsu was eutonic/beneficial for Japan.
Today, I see the emerging 2.0 Startups and ecosystem doing this work. And that will benefit the normies.
@wood_work16666@kanair In such a case, where our hair and quality of hair becomes our BCI communication pathway, baldness becomes designated as a physical disability.
Talking about AI consciousness is becoming trendy. But much of the debate still feels like the same for the last 30 years. Consciousness research has to move forward.
What seems new and promising to me now are two directions. Mathematical theories and invasive BCI in humans.
