The Japan-US alliance is built on enduring people-to-people connections. DMV area grassroots leaders gathered at the Old Residence for our Grassroots Exchange Strategy Meeting to share best practices, tackle shared challenges, and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
Yesterday I had the opportunity to join Ambassador of Japan Shigeo Yamada to celebrate the former participants and contributors of People-to-People Exchange Programs between Japan and the U.S…!! As a former participant in the Japan Exchange Teaching program, I know firsthand how these experiences build lasting relationships, strengthen cultural understanding, and deepen the important friendship between our two countries. We welcomed students from Gakushuin University to the Old Residence to learn about public diplomacy. We thank them for their continued interest in Japan-US relations and wish them all the best with their studies!

I had a great time visiting @subaru_usa of Indiana Automotive and was deeply impressed by their commitment to their associates and the local community. Subaru will start exporting SUVs made in Indiana to Japan later this year! –Ambassador Yamada

Today marks 25 years since the September 11 attacks. In honor of those impacted, the Embassy has lowered its flag to half-staff. Japan continues to stand with the United States as an ally and friend.

I had a fascinating visit to @FANUCAmerica, a robotics company, which currently accounts for majority of the industrial robot market share in the US. By combining AI & robotics, FANUC is exploring the future of physical AI and showcasing Japan-US collaboration. -Ambassador Yamada
I enjoyed an interesting tour of @NissanUSA Technical Center, where Japanese and American engineering and innovation come together to create advanced, reliable, and comfortable vehicles on roads around you. -Ambassador Yamada
It was inspiring to visit the @Toyota R&D Center in Ann Arbor, where engineers design and develop iconic vehicles like the Camry and Tacoma—vehicles that are proudly built in the USA and driven by people across the country! -Ambassador Yamada
The strength of the U.S.-Japan alliance is reflected in many ways. Japanese companies have invested billions in Texas creating thousands of jobs across the state. Together, we are also working to address supply chain issues and security challenges in the region. Thank you Ambassador Shigeo Yamada for your work and for stopping by the US Capitol last week.
