The first time I watched “Bobi Wine: The People’s President”, it was too depressing; the violence, the dirty Uganda politics…Gave myself some weeks and watched it again. There are a thousand stories there for posterity, and that we shall return to, but was anyone shocked by the grim, filth, places
overcome by brown soil, that seems to the dominant aesthetic of urban Uganda? It looks unnervingly stark for an extended period on film.

In Frederick Lugard's final year as a British imperialist administrator on Kampala Hill, the Buganda Kingdom was thrown into a civil war. That's when present-day Uganda was allocated to Great Britain as an area of interest, before it became a colony.
