In light of today's Supreme Court decision, I am calling on Christians to apply Colossians 4:6 - "Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person."
My fellow pastor and partner in preaching (Mike Brown) and I sat down to talk about our preaching through the first 2 chapters of Acts...and what lies ahead in chapters 3-4. https://t.co/wNv16sU5aE
Looking forward this Sunday to preaching the exciting conclusion of the events of Pentecost in Acts 2:37-41. We see the response of 3,000 people coming to faith in Jesus…it is how we all should respond. How have you responded to the crucified (but now exalted) Christ?
As excited to preach the next two weeks as I have been for any other passage! Jesus is not just raised from the dead, but exalted to the right hand of God! This week we see the proof in Act 2:29-36…next week we see the response we all should have in Acts 2:37-41.
Since I am done teaching and preaching for the year I have been able to read some of John Calvin's "Institutes of the Christian Religion" that I did not get to read on sabbatical last year. Ahhhhhhhhhh
Currently 1/2 of 1% of Americans serve in the armed forces. I'm so thankful for all those who have taken the oath to "defend the constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic"!
Nick Challies, a wonderful, kind, loving, young Christian full of life, went to be with the Lord last night. Here is a word from his father’s grief-stricken heart. Please pray for Tim and Aileen Challies and their family. https://t.co/nrLRikB94M
For all who have voted...we are all Liberals in a the classical sense! It was once a radical/liberal/new idea that a people would be ruled by law and that we (the people) would have a say in who governs us. Thank God we still have this privilege! https://t.co/owb0ZDtr4D
Can't recommend highly enough Tim Challies' book "The Next Story" which addresses technology and how Christians should respond. I think anyone would find it interesting as it pertains to the history of technology, regardless of your faith background: https://t.co/A81A5ADvEL
I was reminded in Gen. 1:28 (before sin entered the world) that the mandate from God was to subdue the earth. Which as His image bearers would mean to harness the resources of the earth for human flourishing. Crazy to think what would have been made by man had sin not entered.
The two part series I preached on "Biblical Speech and Social Media" as well as the first two Q&A's in our 10 weeks class series are now on our Youtube Channel: https://t.co/L0DYxIKwMZ
My son just got a taste of what it means to be a Browns fan in the modern era...just when you think you are good the Steelers are there to remind you that you are not!! #humbled
Looking forward to Pastor Mike's message tomorrow at Faith Bible Church as he starts our mini-series in I Timothy. I think many of us will be surprised to see what one of the main conflicts was at Ephesus when Paul wrote Timothy some 2,000 years ago. Still so relevant today!
As I look out the window I am reminded of the many things I love about this time of year...which reminds me it will soon change...which reminds me nothing good in this world lasts...which reminds me of the new earth coming where they will!
Why did the Apostle Paul ask followers of Jesus to have their words seasoned with grace toward everyone? (Eph 4:29, Col. 4:6)? The Answer:
Luke 4:22 - "And all spoke well of him (Jesus) and marveled at the gracious words that were coming from his mouth.”
