@sentoddyoung As your constituent, I urge you to reject adding more funds for deadly immigration detention and mass arrests, which terrorizes our communities and fuels a system of mass incarceration for profit. Our communities deserve better.

@stinchfield1776 The first duty of the American government is to safeguard the rights of the American people. No crisis — war, terrorism, Marxism, illegal immigration, etc — is so urgent that it calls for tactics that limit those rights. They’re wrong. Trump is also wrong.
@MilaLovesJoe I have worked on WelcomeCorps sponsor teams for Haitian refugees and this is simply a lie. We (the sponsors) have to show proof of personal funds to help get the refugees on their feet. There is no program giving $20k a month. Stop posting lies.
Clarification: My issue with ending TPS is that the situation in Haiti hasn’t improved. The interim Prime Minister says it is “hell for everyone”. Secretary Noem says it’s all fixed… but they still don’t have a functioning government.
You may disagree and that’s fine.
Removing TPS for Haitians is morally wrong and unconscionable. This arbitrary policy change is based on a bold-faced lie. The situation there has NOT improved and this will do real, physical harm to good people.

@WaskelweeWabbit TPS is an indirect route to citizenship. It allows refugees to live and work here while they start the process of getting sponsored for a green card or applying for asylum, both of which are routes to citizenship.
@WaskelweeWabbit Domestic issues are separate issues. It’s not a zero sum game. You can help refugees AND try to fix the problem in STL. Most of that falls on the city and state, though.
@WaskelweeWabbit I don’t doubt that it was poorly implemented. It is a federal government program after all. We have a large settlement of Hatians in my home town, however, and it hasn’t ruined” it. St. Louis has always had major issues.
@WaskelweeWabbit I know that TPS is temporary (that’s what the “T” stands for). That’s not the issue. The issue is that it’s renewable based on the condition of the home country. The State Department is lying about the condition of Haiti to discontinue a program that needs to continue.
