Sonos Beam Ultra – first impressions
Even unpacking it made a good impression. Everything was perfectly packaged and the box contained everything I needed. The soundbar itself has a clean, minimalist design. Both the installation and the update went smoothly.
And now for the main thing — the sound. My TV has decent sound quality on its own, so when watching standard programmes, for example via Telly, the improvement is noticeable but not as pronounced as I’d expected.
However, with streaming services such as Disney+, Netflix and HBO Max — all of which I have on premium subscriptions — the sound is fantastic. It has such depth and richness that, in some scenes, I can almost physically feel it — and I don’t even need to turn the volume up significantly.
It’s also proved excellent for listening to the radio via the Sonos app. Bluetooth playback works flawlessly too.
So far, I’m very satisfied. For me, the biggest difference compared to the TV’s own sound isn’t with regular broadcasts, but when watching films and series from streaming services.
