It's been a whole week since this big fella graced Scarbados with his presence on New Year's Eve; an unbelievable, unexpected couple of hours on the sea front! Hope you're faring well, Thor!
It’s like we’ve got a tardis and have gone back in time to an ancient medieval savagery! Watching these people who are clearly not laying and following a scent trail but instead are actively hunting foxes on a Saturday morning! Help to stop fox hunting: https://t.co/gV6owKxh94
❄️ This is what a week’s worth of snow looks like. We’ve travelled to one of the worst affected areas in Aberdeenshire. A community which has been unreachable for days.

The A90 south of Aberdeen looks like something from a video you see of Arctic Norway or Finland. One of the biggest snow events of the last 20 years in north-east Scotland for sure.
TRILOBITE BEETLES!😍🌿
Some of the coolest bugs in Asia’s rainforests are these female Lycid Beetles, that look like they’re from prehistoric ages! 😱🦕
They retain their larval form as adults and feed on decaying matter all day and night in the leaf litter of the forest! 🍂
Latest Greenland White-fronted Goose population estimate: 13,303. Now 13,302 (that we know of). I dread every ringing recovery that lands in my inbox - another bird lost to illegal shooting in Iceland. We can’t afford to lose any more. 📸David Dinsley
The #PlanningBill has passed without the amendments we were supporting, weakening wildlife protections on a scale not seen in decades 😔
Made in haste & against public opinion, this decision threatens nature, local identity, economic resilience, & the health of our communities.
More work linking irregular iris pigmentation in gannets to prior HPAI infections: likelihood of NP antibody increased with iris pigment irregularity. Moderate correlations for H5 antibodies.

BREAKING: Donald Trump moves to gut the Endangered Species Act — putting precious animals and plants in danger to supercharge the profits of his corrupt backers.
Future generations will inherit a wasteland thanks to these monsters...
“Trump’s proposals are a death sentence for wolverines, monarch butterflies, Florida manatees and so many other animals and plants that desperately need our help,” said Stephanie Kurose, deputy director of government affairs at the Center for Biological Diversity.
“If these rules had been in place back in the 1970s, the bald eagle, the gray whale might not be around today, and if they go into effect now, they will drive animals extinct, and that means a lonelier world,” Kurose explained.
“This isn’t about protecting endangered species. This is about the biggest companies in the country wanting to drill for oil and dig coal, even if it causes wildlife like the polar bear and other iconic species to go extinct,” she added.
The White House is arguing that the rules as they currently exist are choking off economic development. Translation: corporations could be making more money if they were allowed to rampage across the environment freely. That "economic development" won't benefit average Americans, who will be forced to bear the ecological costs. It will solely benefit shareholders and CEOs.
The changes would slash protections for species that are designated as "threatened," which is one rung below "endangered." Of course, once these companies start drilling, mining, and polluting those species will quickly go from threatened, to endangered, to extinct.
On top of that, Trump's new rules would make it even harder to designate species as endangered and harder to protect crucial habitats for such species.
One need only glance at Trump's pick for Interior Secretary to see how deep the rot goes here. Doug Burgum is a billionaire with deep connections to the fossil fuel industry so it's no surprise that he's enthusiastically supporting the new rules, praising them as "clear, consistent and lawful standards" that "respect the livelihoods of Americans who depend on our land and resources."
In reality, this is about funneling more wealth to corporations. America First always meant Corporations First.
Please retweet and ❤️ to demand a halt to these changes!
This is one of my favourite pieces so far as The Times emphasises how AMAZING swifts are & how small the ask of swift bricks is, illustrating how pathetic Labour are being. https://t.co/S9BonbNlXq

Agency concludes the captive-breeding plan as unviable; leading raptor experts say the real priority is tackling ongoing persecution, not moving birds around.

ITS AUTUMN! The first major arrival of Pink-footed Geese today over the Isle of May as 3,095 battled their way in off the sea in strong westerly winds. Great to see. Welcome back!
