@FrontlinesTPUSA Given the tree was estimated to be about as old or older than the country itself that makes it historic in a way, why couldn't they just have the wall curve and go around them? Or relocate the entire tree if possible, It's been done before?
@EchoesofWarYT It was a known landmark of Virginia as a whole for over a century. Seeing it vandalized with graffiti celebrating a worthless criminal who died by his own actions and then seeing it taken down utterly infuriated me. Lee was a man of principal and embodied duty & honor.
@CNN Carriers like the Stennis named for a senator who helped shape the modern navy. Trump famously never served and while he may be supporting the navy through legislation and leadership, I don't support naming a ship much less renaming a carrier named for a war hero after him.
@CNN I definitely don't agree with this, mainly on the fact that the ships named for presidents were named after ones with military service or politicians that contributed heavily to the US Navy. Nixon, Reagan, Kennedy, Ford for example all presidents with military service.
@EchoesofWarYT Andrew Jackson was definitely up there and would despise what his party has become today. Him and Roosevelt are tied with their war hero status.
@EchoesofWarYT Reason it truly was a disgrace with what has been done to his statues in Virginia. He truly was one of the finest soldiers and military commanders Virginia ever produced and gifted to the US as a whole. Those villianizing him know nothing of history or even honor for that matter
@CuriosityonX Given the US will likely be establishing it "New Washington", maybe "Artemis City" or perhaps go more related to the planet like "Martian City" or "City of Ares". Be neat of NASA done a poll on names.
@KeithMcC04@ricksapp Cause they didn't commit treason, if anything they defended the constitution. Also there are hundreds of Confederate soldiers buried alongside their Northern brothers there at Arlington and they deserve to be honored just as much as any other fallen veterans.
@Liberty_Xtreme In the sense of Civil War history I'd say it belongs there. The 1st MN captured it at Gettysburg after suffering horrific casualties repelling Pickett's Charge. One of the worst casualty figures of the war in fact. They didn't just take it, they earned that flag.
@tpfd10012@WanjiruNjoya You even from the US or had family in the US since the 1850s? Those men are literally the grandfathers of millions of Americans today! They fought to defend their homes and in a sense the Constitution. People like you know nothing of what that conflict was about.
@tpfd10012@WanjiruNjoya Show me the plaques that read "This monument is to show the black people this is a white man's country" Show me a valid source where those who built it intended that. All the monuments destroyed only had plaques "In honor of the soldiers from (name of town or county) or similar.
@Lorelei1861 Not surprised if did. These people are the definition of actual racists, and doing the exact thing real white supremacists did in the first half of the 20th century. The SPLC should be made to fund rebuilding all the monuments vandalized or removed over the last decade.
@WanjiruNjoya They are trying to erase the teachings of reconciliation that soldiers from both sides demonstrated in the years after. There should have been more uproar about this removal and it should already have been put back. They removed it in a day, they can put it back in a day.
@WanjiruNjoya The removal of the beautiful memorial at Arlington, desecrating the very grave of its sculptor as well was a real disgrace. This was proof that they seek to destroy the history and legacy of the honorable southern soldiers buried there alongside their northern brothers.
Splat scores of enemies with colored ink and seek treasure in #SplatoonRaiders, a new single-player focused action shooter game β launching July 23rd, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2.
@WhiteHouse Should maybe call it the "Liberty Arch" or "Arch of Libertas" in reference to 250 years of liberty and a monument to our founding principles. Also instead of "One nation under God" it should read "One nation indivisible" for pledge or "E Pluribus Unum" the official motto.
