@amicusadastra This is a great idea and I’ll help in whatever way I can if you’re interested. But the leeway is down to 6 months at the most now with the rapid and radical tech that’s on the horizon.
A new medium, which creates biases and constraints for content creation, also remakes us (individually and socially) according to those same biases and constraints.
It’s not just new content,
it’s new humans
with new identities, and values.
new media colonize completely
@amicusadastra Not always true. Sales is necessary to make people aware of quality in the first place, and then quality determines the long term viability and sales get easier. They’re a saying: the fastest way to ruin a company is to have great sales people and an inferior product/service.
@OrwellsShaddow Perhaps a slight if hand here… but Dostoevsky! Influenced by everyone, as all great writers are, but he’s one of one, and shows why we should never generalize/ dehumanize an entire group. If the Russians can produce him, they’re as magnificent as they are complex.
@amicusadastra You must start with McLuhan’s approach, but then ultimately we need to make moral and political judgments. Or else what’s it all for? I greatly admire both thinkers.
We can look back and see how profoundly our technologies change us — but seem unable to have that certainty inform our actions as designers, regulators, or users.
