I don’t even mean money or material possessions...
I’m talking about resilience, my work ethic, my confidence, my internal happiness...
Because not long ago I had none of those.
I’m not lucky to have what I have.
Everything I have I worked hard for. “Luck” doesn’t come into it.
You have no idea what I’ve been through to get to where I am today.
I’m fortunate to have been born in a Western democracy, have a roof over my head, a mother’s love and air in my lungs...
But everything else I have I built by myself...
Society encourages us to "work hard and save so we can have a comfortable retirement"
If I have to wait until my 60s before I achieve "comfort" then I've gone wrong somewhere.
I'll start. I've stopped blaming others for my problems. I've taken ownership of my life and realize that my problems are my own and I have the power to deal with them.
